... Would $2200 for a new set with helmet mount, laser filter, headband and case considered a fair price?

Played with them quite a bit at the SHOT Show this year.  They are on my shopping list; have yet to really familiarize myself with prices in the secondary market.

I don't own any yet, but yes, that is a good price. Quite a bit lower than retail.

I'll try to find some links for you.

Excellent deal. I paid $2500 for a 3rd gen set with head mount last year. $100 for the laser filter, $135 for the helmet mount and $50 for a new soft case.

I think there are four versions of the AN/PVS-7.

The A, B, C and D.

I believe the AN/PVS-7Bs are simply converted to D's by changing out the imaging tube for a higher rez 3rd gen.

BTW it's real easy to do yourself, the 7's are a simple design--except for purging the internals with Nitrogen.

Sorry, actually had to work for a couple of hours.

I don't know if Litton in Tempe can do this.

STANO may be able to say: http://www.stano.night-vision.com/index2.html

That's cheaper than the Navy's buying price for them - at least cheaper than what we payed a few years ago (PVS-7s used by flight deck crew).  They are really great geat.  Monocular, but otherwise pretty close performance-wise to the ANVIS 9s that we are flying with now.

If it's new, it's a good price for an 'a'.  An excellent price if it's a 'b, c, or d'.  Karl.

... I certainly did!

... Already mounted it to a Kevlar helmut and reading the Operator's Manual between posts and watching the Steelers kick ass.

... Waiting for it to get dark enough to go outside and fuck around with it.

... It is an AN/PVS-7B model

It's a full moon tonight as well. There should be enough light to see details quite a ways. Notice the contrast between the areas where moonlight falls and the 'shadows'. Now you'll know why they sell IR flashlights.

... You shouldn't be. I'll be eating Top Ramen instead of steak for a long while.

At least you can see in the dark when they turn off your power.
