I've been thinking lately that I may watch too much TV. I'd say that on average I watch 3-4 hours a day. Some days my lazy ass will sit and waste 6 or 7 hours watching TV (only this much on weekends). So how much TV do watch on average ?

Edited for spelling.

None. ditched the whole TV experience years ago,  and am much better for it.

You'd be amazed how much there is to do without it.

I tried to quit the net cold turky a couple months ago. I lasted about three days.

I'm addicted.

I spend more time behind the computer than watching the TV!

My office is in my home and I have a TV in it that is almost always on, primarily for noise. I find I need the slight distraction to be at my best when writing.

I can't play music; that actually attracts my attention and I find it much harder to tune out. The TV is perfect, usually split between movie channels or news channels.

Dave, I know what you mean about noise. I seem to turn on the tv by instinct even if there is nothing on I want to watch. Like it has to be on in the background even if I'm doing something.

The only information traveling over wires that is being translated into visual/auditory signals by a machine in my apartment is via broadband internet cables.  I spend about two or three hours a day on that.  Also, if I'm bored between classes at college, I sometimes watch cable TV with the TV there.

None - I have cable, but it is used only for internet. I have a large TV, it is used to view VHS tapes. (knob creek etc.)

DVD's on computer - so much cleaner on a computer monitor!

... another "on for the noise" vote.
I have one in each room in my home. One right above my PC, surf more than I should. I'm on LOA from school but when I go back here shortly I'll have much less time in this seat.

Almost NO t.v. Once every 3 or 4 months, DIY shows on Sat a.m. or an episode of King of the Hill (Is it still on?)

Damn, you people have got to make the time.  There is a lot of good stuff on tv if you are not one of those arrogant pricks who say they are too good to watch tv. [:D]

I watch probably 5 to 6 hours a day.  But I am usually multi-tasking while it is on.

I turned on the tube a while back and saw some lady beating her kid up in a parking lot.  I turned it on yesterday and saw Barney the purple dinosaur showing my kid how to act like an idiot.

It's going to stay off for awhile.  Well, except for the occasional viewing of a decent dvd or tape.  Basically, if it's not the History Channel, TLC, Discovery, or HDTV, I'm not interested.

[oops, forgot to spell check]

I'm not too good for TV, but I haven't seen anything that's worth spending an extra $30 a month to waste my brain cells and get fat doing.

Lately I've been working on learning Machining, looking for a job, catching up on my reading, some yard work, some house work, etc.

Nada.  Only people addicted to the CRT worry about their relative position on the food chain.  Got three kids and don't want THEM addicted to the boob tube.  Like folks said you'd be amazed what you can do when there's no TV in the house.

Less than 1 hour per day.  Of course, I would have them removed from the house entirely if I thought I could get away with it.

TV's are evil little boxes of mis-information, promoting all forms of consumeristic gluttony.  They are handy for use as monitors for DVD's and the VCR however.

When I'm on the road, normally Sunday night thru Friday afternoon, I'll flip it on to see if there are any movies worth watching, sometimes a coupla hours in the evening.  When I get up, usually around 4AM, I'll turn on CNN to see if WW3 has started yet, watch the weather, CSPAN.
When I'm home, I only watch movies, 2-4 hrs over the weekend.
