Wow.  Give that man a cigar!  Finally, someone with an ounce of brains.  Too bad his article will prolly be lost in the flood of idiocy floating around.

While the open minded analysis is refreshing (he is a cop after all, one would hope that he would have an open mind about the evidence), any box stock AR15 HBAR would make any of the shots that the killer has made so far with GI issue ammo.

Given any kind of rest for the firearm, I would be surprised if less than 95% of the AR owners in the entire United States couldn't make these shots.

After all, a properly sited-in AR will hit a man sized target from 25 - 300 meters or so just by aiming at the middle of the torso, and it appears that this guy is considerably closer than 300 meters.

Alas for us, I am afraid that the killer is using an AR style firearm. .223 is just not that common in a bolt action.

The mini-14 would be my second guess (cheap, not banned anywhere, and looks like a "normal" rifle which would not arouse suspicion when purchased by anyone).

Remember, the FBI took a serious butt whipping in '86 by one guy with a mini-14.

But these weapons tend to be only moderately accurate.

HAHAHA!  My ar's are so damn accurate, I'm thinking about selling my 223 PSS!  I can get MOA with that swiss or LC ammo, no matter my handloads or BH!

But the misinformation works for us, so I'm happy!
