You get what you pay for. I had a Valentine One radar detector before someone broke into my car to steal it!

I'm moving violation free since August of 1995, and nothing except a lighter right foot would have saved me from that ticket.  As it was the I believe the detector let me chop a bunch of speed off of the top.

It's expensive, very true but how muuch money can you save in fines ::cough:: taxes ::cough:: and increased insurance rates.

The front and rear indicators are very useful.

I really don't have need for one, if the speed limit is 65 I go 70 tops.  However, for $15 I picked up four.  I'll keep one and either sell the other three or give them away as gifts.

Funny, the guy selling them asked why I wanted the last four.  I told him I was planning on selling them for a profit.  He proceeded to tell me that it would be scalping to sell them for more than I paid and he wouldn't sell them to me.  I proceeded to explain to him that I worked on NY's anti-scalping laws when working in the state legislature and scalping only applies to tickets and you can still sell them for 10% over face value and be legal.  I then said maybe you are thinking about "price gouging" but that only applies to the necessities of life during a time if crisis.

BTW, the reason they are blowing them out is they are under order from the FCC to stop selling them by the end of this month.  Seems that these radar detectors screw up the scanners and radar units on highway ezpass toll units.  If it is scrambling the radar on EZpass I wonder what it does to police X band radar...
