I'm in Lake Charles, LA.  If her projected path remains the same, she will be in my back yard.  The wife and kids are headed to relatives in Dallas.  I'm going to stay to look after our property and animals.  Now heading into work to help shutdown the refinery I work at so that it can be evacuated.  I'll post more info after her impact.  Ray

Sometimes you have to know when to get the frick out of Doge.

This would be one of those times.

If you stay, I hope you stay safe.

If you stay I hope you only get glanced. If you take a hit expect 2 weeks with no power or services and plan accordingly.

BUNK DOWN HARD.

At least you got your dog. You have no idea how valuable a good dog is post hurricane.

Good luck and stock up.

And seriously think about bailing. Take the dog with you.

My sister and kidlets showed up on the doorstep about lunchtime from Port Arthur.  NOAA radio's been predicting a 15 foot storm surge. It's starting to sound like somewhere else would be a good place to go be.

Load your mags and wait for looters. [:D]  Seriously, if you're in a low lying area get out.  If you're not in danger from the storm surge sit tight and be safe, you don't want to be stuck on the highway.  Good luck.

Yeah, guns and your AR-15 are great.  Just don't forget that you can't live off of bullets and your AR-15 doesn't provide much shelter.

STOCKPILE FRESH WATER IN SEALED CONTAINERS

GET TO HIGHER GROUND

OBTAIN A SMALL BOAT (even a canoe!)

PACK WARM AND WATERPROOF CLOTHING

GET CASH

FILL UP YOUR GAS TANK AND ANY EXTRA GAS CANS

LEAVE THE AREA

I'd really recommend that last suggestion.  No one really loots when there's feet of rushing water everywhere.

Be safe,

Mike

I'm in New Orleans, I'm waiting for the shit to hit the fan. Heavy winds here already. Lots of rain. We're kind od of used to hurricanes by now, but usually they don't hit directly, this one might. I've already made the "do-or-die decision though". We've come to kind of joke about it, but the truth is that if it hits us good( which it looks like it might) we wil be devastated, and I have never lived through that before) I might not be posting for a while...will keep informed, as things aren't looking so good so far.

Plywood will be selling for 50 to 100 bucks per sheet [to cover windows and roofs] when it's done.  Stock up and make a fortune gouging your fellow man.

If I didn't sell my surfboard, I'd be there for the waves.  Well, that and the looting.

-----

Seriously fellow ARFCOM poster, lock up the refinery, the house, and board up the windows, then pack up the pooch and get out of town.  Hurricanes blow... This one blows BIG.
