Bob, that was a joke about the prosthesis and came in response to someone's question about what happened to Don.
A lot of people have asked what happened to Don. I guess to best answer that while not prying too deep into Don's life I'll just say that in this troubled economy people can find their source of income suddenly gone. While we might be willing to go to extreme self-deprivation if it is just us to consider, throw three kids in the mix, and even the most stubborn coot will accept help from his friends. I have every confidence that Don and Kelley will be on solid ground soon enough, no doubt in large part due to the generosity of the board members. Considering everything he has done for so many others in need here in the past, I don't look at this as charity, just returning the favor. Sure you can contribute without getting a book. A couple of folks have done as you have and asked not to receive one, to allow someone else to have it. Just indicate to Don that you don't need one and we'll pass it down the line. Thanks everyone for your support. Spoke to Don last night and he was really touched. He also indicated a few of the bastages here were going to take a beating when he sees us for some of the old man comments... Even my fat ass can outrun a man with his assault walker. |

My family and I would like to express our deepest thanks to all the folks here for their support, emails, IM's, and phone calls. Sometimes an outpouring of support like you guys have shown us, works miracles in restoring someone's self-esteem. For this, I'll always be indebted to you.
Things on the job front are going well. Hopefully within the next week, I'll be going back to the world of auto parts for a local dealership. I ask that send nothing more to us, but please keep showing your kindness to others. I've learned first hand how devastating feeling beyond hope can be. I don't wish this on anyone. As one of our members told me, "Leave no one behind". |
