The Clinton Administration, in its zeal to disarm the citizenry, was well on its way to the program’s destruction. It had already destroyed 3 million usable, valuable and in some cases historic firearms, sometimes at the rate of 3,000 a day; when last year, thanks largely to the efforts of Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) a moratorium was imposed on the Clinton program of wanton destruction.
Already destroyed were venerable M1903 bolt-action Springfields, M1 Garands, M1 carbines -- including rare variants -- Model 1911A1 pistols (including one of only 500 made by Singer in 1942, valued by collectors at $13,000.) All paid for by our taxes! In one ten-day period alone last July, our federal government turned 19,000 bolt-action .22 rifles, including new-in-the-box unfired Oregon-made Kimbers, one of the finest bolt action .22s in the world -- into junk!
