Just take a look at this:

Davis Signs More Curbs on Gun Makers

Gray Davis just signed a SHITLOAD of anti-gun bills:

In a major triumph for victims of gun violence, Gov. Gray Davis on Wednesday signed twin pieces of legislation allowing manufacturers of firearms to be held liable for harm their products cause.

and

* Assist cities suing gun dealers in obtaining data about the transfer and sale of firearms. Now, such information is compiled by the state but can be used only for law enforcement purposes (SB 1490 by Sen. Don Perata, D-Alameda).

* Permit state law enforcement officials to conduct spot checks of handguns in gun stores to determine whether they meet safety standards. Gun makers now send their wares to labs for such inspections (AB 2902 by Koretz).

* Require that gun dealers check with the Department of Justice before shipping firearms into California to ensure that the recipients are legitimate dealers (AB 2080 by Assemblyman Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento).

I usually don't put it past any politician to pass or sign bad (or unconstitutional) legislation, but I can honestly say I'm FLOORED by this.

It won't be long before wholesalers, manufacturers, and dealers stop shipping to the PRC.

The Commie Chinese will still import full auto AKs through Long Beach while legit gun companies keep getting screwed.

Let's hope Bill Simon gets elected!

Who knows, maybe this will be a litmus test for how much people are willing to bear.

If all KA gun dealers go out of business, we go to war with Iraq and all the KA liberals can't buy their guns to feel safe, maybe there will be a backlash.

Maybe the best thing about KA is that the shit out there has gotten so out of control that maybe people will start to wake up.

Any chance?

EDIT: Whoa did I ever cut and paste the wrong smiley.

Sorry for my ignorance, WW, I've only been stationed in the (relatively) free states of America. And that's no coincidence.

If I was put on orders to CA, I'd resign.

Davis is killing two birds with one stone. He's placating his core anti-gun constituents right before the election and he's covering his bases in case he doesn't get re-elected. It's kind of like Clinton and his executive orders during his final days in office.

I see these new bills making it more difficult for small manufacturers to do business in CA, but for large manufacturers like Springfield and S&W, the CA market is so large it's worth it to jump through the hoops. Remember, there are 34 million potential customers here.

SB 1490 is troublesome. It allows DROS information to be provided to city attorneys to help in civil actions taken against gun manufacturers.

Who is electing these socialist assholes?

And why are businesses still dealing with that state? One day they're offering huge tax incentives, and the next they're holding a rattail file, and telling you "BOHICA"..

Honestly, firearms manufacturers, distributors and vendors should simply boycott any and all sales  to the state of California (Not to the citizenry, just the STATE)

Gray Davis will go down in history as one of the worst governors in American history.

I simply can not believe this!  I don't understand how this whole gun control thing is getting out of hand!

I work at juvenile detention facility, and I frequently ask the minors how easy it is for them to get a hold of firearms.  Not surprisingly they all say "it's easy."  Now, do you think they are talking about buying a gun at the gun store?  Uh, excuse me, Mr. Davis, but that just doesn't happen.  So what will all this legislationg do?  Zip, zero, nada.

I'm trying to get as many of my co-workers to sign up to vote that aren't registered and trying to get them to join GOA or, at least, the NRA.

I still can't believe this...

Troy's right.

"California's Gun Laws.  Tough.  Effective.  Coming soon to a state near you."

I'm sure 100% of CA AR15.com members vote for a pro-2nd representative.  But the rest of the state's subjects (not citizens) would rather live in their perceived "safety" under the liberal umbrella.

The only way I have tried to help stem some of this is to persuade those around me to vote intelligently, writing to my senators, and finally, voting.

His real name is
Joseph Gray Davis, so...

Joe Davis is very shallow pin-head.

He has $56M for the re-election, and refuses to debate Simon.

640KFI radio station is offering $104k to debate, with $20k from Simon.  Joe Davis usually sells out at the $100k mark, but the scum sucker hasn't taken th bait yet.

They aren't forcing the businesses to pay the employee directly, it's another government handout financed by the (working) taxpayer. [>Q]

The original intent of the law to exempt gun manufacturers from liability was to prevent abused from the trial lawyers, but i guess that is going to change soon. The Democratic controlled legislature is so rabid anti-gun, these folks don't see further down the road how this will threaten all Californians, not just the gunners. That is what you get when gun owners don't want to get political.

A lot of Calif. gunners are hoping that Simon is going to get elected, but what was that saying about "a snowball's chance in hell?" Political-wise things  are going to get worse before they get better. The opposing Republicans in Calif. legislature have become pretty much irrelevant and are fighting/bickering amoung themselves just to keep their own jobs, and the Democratic controlled government can pass any law they choose.

Well now people will be going out of state to buy their weapons.

What people dont know is that when they go out of state to buy firearms its a felony offense if they buy a handgun.

Uhhmmm, no.  Maybe in the past, when the hippies graduated andheaded for academic positions, then there might have been a predominance of liberal/socialist in college faculty positions.

There are more conservatives/capitalists than you can shake a stick at in most college faculty positions these days.

The 60's and 70's were thirty-forty years ago.  Most of those 'post hippie' faculty members have already retired/died.

The majority of the faculty on this campus own/possess a firearm on  daily basis.  Most eat red meat, attend church and hate to see big 'Gubmint-cheese programs taxing their wallet.

According to my dealer, California has maintained handgun records for decades. They are only required to destroy long gun records (except AWs). This new bill puts those handgun records in the hands of city attorneys where previously they were available only to law enforcement.
