Fields who said something to the effect of "never act with animals or children" -- Jim Carrey should consult the plethora of actors before Him who have violated this axiom and ended up in early obscurity... His career in movies --his 15 mins-- was over years ago. Just another over the hill actor trying to recapture some measure of relevance in an industry He no longer holds qualifications for thru political activism. Sad.

I love it when I find out that a celebrity I wasn't watching because he just sucks as an entertainer is also anti-2A. It is like it jusitifies all the time I spent not paying to see the same shtick acted out by a "different" character or the lame attempts to prove himself as a serious dramatic actor. Carrey reached his zenith with the Fireman Bill routine on In Living Color. Everything since is just milking every tiny last bit of humor out of that same idea.

Now that you mention it, that is probably the only good thing I've seen him in...........and then only when he was playing Superman. Most of the Living Color show absolutely turned my stomach.

OTHER THAN THAT............he's never been the reason any movie has been picked up. Even "Bruce, Almighty" was picked up for the subject, not because he was in it. Other than that, I think the only other movie of "his" that I've watched was the Batman one. I might eventually watch "Liar, Liar".................but that's because I'm a Maura Tierney fan.

Hollywood celebrates this stuff. If anything, stupid snide comments like this will extend his career.

Hollywood by and large doesn't care if gun owners stop going to their movies. Too many of the Hollywood set are true believers and it is one inbred crowd ideologically. Don't believe me? How many leftist films (heck, just count the anti-Bush released in the last 8 years) did they make, and keep making, that lose millions of dollars - They don't care. Speed bumps. Besides, the people who attend films by and large are not in the demographic of people who believe in liberty or limited government, and even then most of those who claim to be staunch believers in liberty and limited government cave if they can be entertained, especially those in the cities (and yes, they have looked at these takes, and the stats, and determined it's not a real issue - The industry/studio polling is often more accurate than election polling).

The industry is set up to tolerate losses, what happens is the individual producers/directors lose money on production company X, declare bankruptcy, and get more loans. Hollywood is not generally a multigenerational wealth business anymore - It's a quick build and burn model. The studios almost always make their share up front based on production - They only really lose money when they over invest in marketing and even then make it up in the TV and home video market (see: Battleship).
