Sure, prices will come back down.  It'll still take a while.  Even ammunition is starting to show up again... although still at abnormally-high prices.
As far as the fates of speculators/gougers, it's irrelevant to me.

If you lived on the coast and a Hurricane was heading your direction and plywood that
normally cost $30 a sheet was now costing $100 a sheet, would it be
price gouging or capitalism?

That's a bullshit argument if there ever was one.

Nobody's house is going to get flooded if they can't buy 1,000 rounds of .223 ammo at 30/50/70/100 cents a round  right freakin' now.

Grasshopper vs. Ants.  You live in a hurricane zone, why don't you have plywood ready to go that you could have bought during the non-hurricane season, at normal prices?

EDIT:  starting in Dec 2011 I tinkered around with the electoral college map at 270towin.com .  I figures out back then Obama was going to win.  I prepared accordingly.

Same principal.
It just strikes a different cord when it affects you different.
To you, ammo is different, to someone else, plywood is different.

Just because you feel one way on a subject doesn't mean someone else doesn't feel different on another.
To some, the ammo issue is the same as a house getting flooded.

Look at both sides of the pic before you pass judgement.

The guy thinking that ammo is jacked up may think that someone living in hurricane country does so at their own risk.

ammo without a gun is worthless.
