Situation - you have three AR's and have the opportunity for a fourth, a BCM full rifle.  Seller will trade straight up for a 1 oz Canadian Maple gold coin.

You doing it?

If you are willing to pay 1600-1700 for an AR than go for it. How much did you obtain the coin for? That would be a big factor for me.

Which BCM rifle? I would consider it for an EAG or the new Haley Gun. My gold I bought at 3/4 spot so yeah...

Basic economics. Acquisition cost is irrelevant.

If STHF then maybe gold could help. But if it REALLY hits the fan then the AR will be worth more

This.

Gun is worth maybe $1000 to $1300 retail. Dealer is far less.

Gold is $1610 spot as of 1400 CDT.

NO DEAL!

I allways wondered how can you make change for a one ounce gold coin?. That is why I stash silver dimes.

There are smaller denominations in the stash...this option makes it the most simple.

And, there are many thoughts that $1600 in silver now is way more valuable than an oz. of gold.

Keep the gold.
Unless you have 4 arms, another AR will not do you any good.
Plus, you are buying the AR at a greatly inflated value.
