Federal. I'm sure it can still be offered as an amendment but it took a major hit today

Quoted: Reid dropped it, but it can still be add by fienstien threw an amendment . Ironically our disdain for Reid's not wanting to bring anything to the floor for a vote worked in our favor... |
That's just one part of the bill. They still have registration in there
And now they drop their "more reasonable, common sense" gun control package and many senators gladly vote for it.
I just logged onto Fox News and saw this too.
WTF, am I dreaming? |

Keep an eye on the back door. Did you learn that nugget of wisdom in prison? |

Don't trust those fuckers for a second.
This fight isn't over. |

state? or fed? Fed From http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/19/17371231-congress-assault-weapons-ban-nixed-from-bill?lite Whither assault weapons ban: “Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said on Monday that a controversial assault weapons ban will not be part of a Democratic gun bill that was expected to reach the Senate floor next month,” Politico notes. “After a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday, a frustrated Feinstein said she learned that the bill she sponsored — which bans 157 different models of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines — wouldn’t be part of a Democratic gun bill to be offered on the Senate floor. Instead, it can be offered as an amendment. But its exclusion from the package makes what was already an uphill battle an almost certain defeat.”
I dont trust these bastards. I dont think its over yet. |

Is the universal background check still up? Yes, that is going to be their "reasonable compromise" which they will add amendments to. Don't back down and don't give an inch of ground. Shove these unconstitutional bills up their asses. |
Quoted:
Is the universal background check still up? That's probably the bill Reid will let have a floor vote. However with Zero republican co-sponsors, and no consensus with that turncoat Coburn, it may not muster 50 votes. |

How many of these posts will there be? IBTL Link to the other thread? |

AWB was the poison pill that would kill it all. A republican needs to offer it as an amendment.

And now they drop their "more reasonable, common sense" gun control package and many senators gladly vote for it. And then attach the entirety of the AWB to the background check and gavel it passed via voice vote. I smell 86 machine gun ban all over again. |

And now they drop their "more reasonable, common sense" gun control package and many senators gladly vote for it. Yep! The RINOs will tell us how they staved off the deadly AWB, while they line up to sign the UBC. Cocksuckers! |

DO NOT LET YOUR GUARD DOWN. STAY ON THE OFFENSIVE. this |

AWB was the poison pill that would kill it all. A republican needs to offer it as an amendment. This, along with 'Reid should just put it up for a vote' is fucking stupid. How about we just not put an AWB in a position to be passed, mmk? And is the mag ban still a part of the senate legislation? |
I remember reading about four distinctive bills that are still going to be brought forward instead of one bill, but I can't remember where I read it
You would of had to be a fucking Idiot thinking that the AWB would of even had a chance of passing,
They are doing it the easy way. Drop it now and add as an amendment, It is more likely to get passed then.
Both NBC and Fox News are reporting that the AWB will not be presented as part of the "package of gun legislation" being presented for a vote on the Senate floor.
The AWB will be offered as an amendment. But as others have noted, that faces almost certain death. Keep your fingers crossed. Let's hope we bury this thing asap. |

To say nothing of the sixty it needs to get past the inevitable filibuster, to say nothing of passing the house. They might manage to get a light version of a universal background check into law (loaded with exceptions and additional protections against registration) but that's it. The new season of dancing with the stars just started. The anti's had their chance, and they were unable to make progress at the federal level.

This is really nothing to celebrate. The fight is nowhere near over.

UBC is a bigger deal in my opinion. Who gives a shit if you ban my rifle if you don't even know I have it? |

Yeah... we'll end up with "universal" back ground checks and mag limits instead. |
Quoted: Does this mean we can celebrate? Would you celebrate a Pyrrhic victory? We lost many states. |
That's OK. We're just one mass shotting away from doing this ALL OVER AGAIN.
This fight is NEVER over. It will never stop. EVER. NEVER. NEVER EVER. |

Quoted:

This gives Senators from purple districts who may be facing tough re-election fights an easy out to vote against it. Politico theorized it might not even get 35 "for" votes as an amendment. |
Don't worry. The government doesn't need the law on their side to come to your house and kill you anyway.

Keep an eye on the back door. This. Now is the time they will try to back door registration (UBC). |

AWB2 is extremely unpopular, and UBC is becoming the "common sense" idea that only radical NRA weirdos will oppose.
UBC will be offered as the main bill and AWB2 will be held in reserve until the next mass shooting. This is a step in the right direction but we are not out of the woods yet. Increase the Pressure |
