I've been all around LA County looking for ammo (5.56 / .223) and while I've been largely unsuccessful, I can't help but notice (as did others in line) that almost every store I'm in DOES HAVE plenty of .30-06, .270 Win, and .300 Win.
Sucks for me because I don't have anything in those calibers...but wondering now if I should have |
Just buy the ammo and one day you can trade it off or buy the gun to shoot it.
Well that's what I would do. |
Don't forget 7mm because there's shitloads of it on the shelf at the wal-mart here. I guess because west texas dog size deer need the ever-living shit blown out of them.
I've been considering building up a .300 Win Mag as of late. I guess now would be as good a time as any. I have a Ruger M77 MK2 in .30-06, but it's my deer rifle and is nothing fancy.
Plenty of 10mm and .17hmr.
If you get a 10mm you can pretend you have a powerful gun. |
8mm and 7.62x54r are still available, and for about the same price, I'm tempted to buy a hakim, or fn-49 as future panic protection.
.17 HMR,
.22-250 .243 .270 .30-30 .30-06 .300 Win Mag. .45 LC These are the ones I'm seeing at Wal*Mart on a regular basis. |

they only ammo I can find here is 17HMR and shotgun ammo Even the shotgun ammo here has been disappearing at frequent intervals. Walmart seems to do a pretty good job of restocking it quickly, .22LR, .45. etc on the other hand...... |
I have a .22-250 lone eagle -- ammo is always in stock. I need to get optics for it and then I might start shooting it.
'06 .270 .17hmr .22 wrm
.300 winmag some shotgun .45 ACP believe it or not.... 9mm is like finding gold 5.56mm is a do-do egg. .22 lr I got lucky and got a box of fed auto match, felt like winning the fuckin lottery... |
Based on what I still see available at the distributors website
327 454 Casull 45 GAP Off-beat stuff I don't think I've ever heard of like 480 Ruger or 460 S & W |
7.62x54r and .40 S&W seemed to do well. Glad I have weapons in both calibers, will have way more soon. In November, I bought a conversion barrel for my Glock 22 to shoot cheap 9mm ammo.. LOL.
380 ACP - this was the caliber you couldn't get after he got elected the first time
22-250 7mm Mag 17 HMR other "hunting" catridges jonblack |
Everywhere I go in Northern Virginia, I can find plenty of 7mm Rem Mag, and .270Win. along with varied and smaller amounts of other "bolt-action rifle" calibers.
I have a .270 and shoot it a lot. That being said, the cheapest ammo you'll ever find for it is around $20 for a box of 20 rounds. Might as well pay retard prices for .223 or 5.56.
Although I am not hurting for any caliber, .220 Swift and 7mm Mag are plentiful.
I've seen a lot of 22-250, 7MM, and .300 WM
It was the first time I went out looking for ammo in about 6 months. |
i been taking this time to buy .270, 7mm mag, .22mag & believe it or not 7.62x39..... the last one really surprises me when i find it, i dont own an ak but for 5 bucks what the hell.
How can none of you 'tards mention the one round that is still in stock, works in a gun everyone should have, and is a practical-tactical-mankiller...
12Ga 2 3/4". Still on EVERY shelf in my AO. |
I picked up a .243, .270, .30-06 and .30-30 after the last craziness, still want to add 7/08, 7mag, .300mag to round out the fudd arsenal

9mm is like finding gold
Seems to be plenty of 9mm in Los Angeles. Picked up a 250-round value pack today (.30/round FMJ) just because I'll shoot it, even though I wasn't looking for it. They had plenty more and I've seen it around. I forgot to mention also plenty of 7mm and .45acp around LA |

I bought a 270 win bolt gun in this madness. The gun was cheap, and the ammo plentiful. I had been contemplating getting a gun in this caliber for awhile anyways...but seeing ammo for it plentiful during this time solidified my desire for one.
Good gun too. Two weeks later, it took its first hog. :) |

The most plentiful cartridge seems to be .270 Winchester. Certainly at WalMart it is the most common, although even so, there weren't that many boxes on the shelves, and they wanted $60 per box. They also had small quantities of 7mm Remington Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, and .410 and 20 ga. shotshells. I think I saw a box of another cartridge, but that's about it. No pistol ammo.
The local gun shops have a larger variety, but limited quantities no matter what the cartridge is. They are also all charging exorbitant prices. They almost all have 8X56R, though; probably the only thing I saw that didn't have its price raised, although the shops here have always wanted a bit too much for it (no point in paying $1.50 per round when I have been able to get it on clips for 75 cents per round, until recently). |

and 12 and 20 guage shotgun ammo, lots of 7.62x39 here also.

NOT in a tactical load, though 9 pellet 00 Military Buck from Federal at every store here. Slugs too. Tactical enough for me. I might take a picture if I go to walmart later. Typically you've got 12ga military buck, a few boxes of slugs, some 8-shot crap, some random 20ga, some .270/7mm/.22-250 or such and a lonely box of .45 Colt. Handgun or common riflle rounds, or anything rimfire equals SOL... But shotguns are G2G. |

Locally:
.17 .327 .40 .243 .30-06 (in the expensive flavors) (just about all the magnum rifle cartridges) |

.300 Weatherby Magnum has actually come down in price. My local walmart has a few boxes. Seriously, who the hell buys 300WM in AZ? If you're going that big, quit fucking around and get a .50 |

Been noticing the prices on 300 win mag have gone down a little bit. Every gun shop I go to has plenty of 300 win mag.

.45LC and a bunch of shitty .410 loads for the judges and governors

The only caliber I notice in plentiful supply wherever I go is 17 HMR.
