So I ordered a pair of 505's from Amazon, and got them today.

I swear my pillow case is thicker than this stuff.  Kinda pathetic in all honesty.

The work jeans I got from Target (Wrangler I think) seem far more durable are are half the cost.

Must have bought prewashed. Everyone assumes that all new jeans are thinner than they used to be. Levis in particular have always used 12-14 oz denim. Shrink to fits and prewashed start out the same, but by the time the prewashed undergo the enzyme processes and faux finishing, they end up being lighter.

I assure you that raw shrink to fit 501s are still heavy.

Wranglers do,have really nice denim, pretty thick.

The only problem for me is they just don't fit me right. I have absolutely no ass and it looks like a family of 4 moved out of my jeans with Wranglers

That's probably the last time I bought a pair. They used to fit nice I swear they are sizing down to save cost or something. 5.11's for me now that I was able to try a pair before I bought.

I purchased two pair of Levis back in June of last year from Amazon for casual wear. They lasted 4-5 months of casual use. Garbage.
I have a few pair of USA made Carharrt that are probably 4 to 5 years old and still wearable.

Back during the Clinton regime I sent them an e-mail voicing my disapproval of their contributions to the "Brady Bunch".  I was shocked to receive an actual personal reply, but basically we agreed to disagree.  I promised them then that they would never make another dime off of me and I keep my promises.

My 514 rigid selvedge is around 11-12oz denim. Good for hotter days. I have some 14.5oz denim and that shit gets hot.

FWIW, the original Levi's from the 1890s were 9oz.

Wrangler 13MWZ if you want inexpensive quality jeans.
