I got home tonight, and went to the mailbox like I always do to get my pile of mail. There's one group of mailboxes for the community where everyone gets their mail. It's split into thirds- 2 for regular mail with 20 or so individual boxes each, and 1 with 4 large boxes for when you get mail too big for your regular box. When they put a packsge in the large mailbox, they put a corresponding key in your regular box so you know to get your package.
Anyway, I parked and was approaching the mailbox when I noticed one had the door missing. As I got closer, I realized it was the one where people put their outgoing mail. I put my key in my mailbox to open it, and realized the entire front of the unit was loose. I had NO MAIL in mine, the first time that has ever happened.
The front of the unit had been broken out, and was able to be opened almost all the way. There was no mail in anyone's box.
I'm expecting some important mail, including a couple of money orders, and a few packages. 2 of the packages contain Molle Gear.
I'm afraid somebody broke in after the mail got delivered, and swiped my mail.
Does the post office have a record of any type of what was delivered today?
What should I do? I'm not certain there was even any mail left for me, but I've got a sinking feeling about it. If a thief found a box of Molle Gear with my street address on it, they may be coming back.
I'll call the head of the Homeowners Association first thing in the morning, and find out what he knows. He also lives directly across from the mailboxes.
In the meantime, how can I find out if my mail was left today or not? I figure if the mail carrier came and the boxes were already broken into, they wouldn't leave mail since it would be left in the open...
