They had this funky shifter that went into the dash next to the steering column, like a 3 on the tree, except it was 3 on the dash, it was plumb weird!

Dad had one for a few years. Everyone would ask how he wound up the rubber band. Most cars were a little larger in the mid 60's. Three speed I learned to drive on several years before I was old enough for a license.
