For those of you who use the standard editor, I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize for using WYSIWYG for so long.

They suck.

Which is why I use Standard Editor.

Oh, on occasion I MIGHT find something that is best used on the WYSIWYG editor, but the last time I did the results were ugly.

The WYSIWYG editor is good for embedding videos. Maybe just switch back and forth between editors each time? I can't remember how to do it.

No.

The standard editor embeds videos just fine.  You just need to use the video button (which puts [ youtube ] [ /youtube ] around your video link).  It isn't rocket science.

The problem is that the embed function here ONLY recognizes the original youtube links (not youtu.be or https, or embed/related/etc links)

I leave it that way just because it's easier to imbed videos.

eta Now that I think about it you can't imbed videos at all if you use the other one, IIRC.

I was never able to make it work.

BTW, I just switched back to the normal editor.

You can do spoilers with the standard editor too...

just type [ spoiler ] before the spoilers and [ /spoiler ] after (no spaces)

ROCKET SCIENCE

Use the WYSIWYG editor and you can just highlight it and hit delete.

This is like somebody complaining that Windows filenames look funny in DOS 4.0.  Welcome to the future.

No, it's like somebody complaining that a website only works in Google Chrome.

And your response is "well, you should be using Google Chrome".

ETA: Actually, it's considerably worse, since the user's content is getting similarly corrupted.

Also, LOL AJE.

The WYSIWYG editor doesn't work for everything but I don't remember what it doesn't work for anymore because I haven't used it in forever.

That works until that one stray div shows up. When that happens, you're fucked, because that bitch is going into mitosis and it'll begin to take over the quote tree.

The only way to kill a rogue div infestation is with the standard editor and patience.

Can you embed without it?  That's the only time I use it, it's painful.

EDIT Nvm answered above.

for me, the problems only started after the last board update.  WYSIWYG worked fine for a long time, then div and span went crazy.

would probably be easier just to go back to standard and manually entering tags, but it's so much more convenient to do pics and video in the new editor.

The div tags are one of the reasons I disregard the quote tree rule half the time.  When you have a bunch of people posting in the WWJDWTFBBQ editor, it gets to be too time consuming to trim it down.
