"I walked over you to see the Who"

yes that long.

i saw them the same year in atlanta. the were on top after woodstock. they did the tommy album and then a lot of their other hits.

the who was probably at the time, the best 'performance' extant. there were other bands to see that were better 'bands' but the who put on the best performance.

i also saw hendrix, cream (fairwell tour), led zeppelin a bunch, derek and the dominoes (without allman), johnny winter, credence clearwater revival, and all the top bands of the time EXCEPT the doors. morrison was arrested in miami before they made it to atlanta and they stopped touring.

used to go see the allman brothers play for free in atanta and piedmont park.

some oddities that turned out to be very good, fairport convention and the beach boys, leo kotke and rye cooder.

the stones turned out to be a bit of a disappointment and when led zep started doing the stadium tours it sucked.

Excuse the shitty iPhone video, but I took this on December 8, 2012 in Philly. It's I Am the Sea / The Real Me. They played Quadrophenia in its entirety, and they FUCKING ROCKED.

I'm 44, so I was still in diapers. But great music is timeless.

Good Lord, that's sobering. I was just starting college --- that was an entire lifetime ago.

My wife wasn't even born yet. (She arrived in June of 1970).

Damn, I feel ancient.  But EXPERIENCED, in the Hendrixian sense.
