Right now my AR 15 is zeroed 25 yards, but looking to run a 50 when I get the chance to hit an outdoor range. I would also like to try a 300 meter zero, but don't know much about it yet.

I keep all my 14.5 or 16 inch guns zeroed at 100m. SBR's are zero'd at 50m

I've got my AR and my .22 zeroed at 50 (50-200 zero for the AR) and my .308 at 100yd.

Not sure where I'm going to zero the GSG522 at yet, probably 50yd.

Lets me shoot 25/50/100 with little math. All I am capable of hitting well.

I zero everything at 100. Easy math under stress if I ever have to adjust POA

300 meter zero is almost the same as a 25m zero, I believe.

Yes. I used the 33/300 zero on my ACOG because thats what I was use to zeroing in the Marines. but I dont have access to a range past about 200 right now so I re-zeroed

Everything I have is at 100. I shoot a little further to know where I will hit but I don't usually shoot past 100 where I live.

My hunting rifles are the same, 100. Where I hunt you don't shoot much past that anyways. 150-200 would be max.

That's what my Trijicon optics are set for. The top of the caret is spot on at 100. Middle of the caret, according to Trijicon, should be spot on at 200. Bottom of the caret is 300. Hash marks below the caret are set for 400, 500, and 600 (not that I've tried and verified this).

I have found that a 40 yard zero works best for a variety of bullets. The bullet is a maximum of 3-4" above the LOS at 150-175 yards. Zero any closer than 40 and you can have problems with the bullet being too high above the LOS at moderate ranges, but if you set yours first zero much farther away than 40 yards you really lose the advantage of the 223's flat trajectory at longer ranges.

I've been doing a 100. Easy for me to picture the ballistics and run calcs in my head with a moa reticle and moa adjustments.

I prefer the 300 yard zero. Keeps solid hits from point blank on out to about 400 yards. I've always liked the 300 yard zero and that Travis Haley video reinforced the concept of why.

I used to be a big advocate of the 50 yd zero. Changed to 100 yd zero at a Vickers carbine class. Loved it and kept it due to the very simple "always hold high" nature of it. Zero my new carbines at 100 yds. If I were to make a habit of shooting longer range, would consider a 25yd or 300yd zero.

Aimpoints and backup fixed iron sights get zero'd at 50/200 (50 and 200 have same POI)

A2 milspec sights get zero'd at 200 using 0-200 aperture. Flipping to small aperture changes zero to 300.

Not sure if you are serious or being sarcastic. The reason a 25-300 works is that at 25 the bullet is going up and at 300 the bullet is coming down (__--25--````--300--__). It doesn't go in a laser straight line. Gravity and all.

At 25 I would hit high if I didn't adjust POA and at 300 I would hit low if I didn't adjust POA

For ACOGs zero at 36m and confirm at 100m.

25m is not the same as 300m zero...that's why the M16 series had the 8/3 and the 8/3 +1 setting on the rear sight.

I cannot confirm this but it's my understanding that it was supposed to be zeroed at 36m but the Army didn't want to rebuild all their zero ranges which were established at 25m for the M14. An AWG guy told me that but I don't know if it's an urban legend or not.

Lots of theories. I would say zero at the distance that seems best for your situation. As long as you understand why it's zeroed and how to adjust then you're fine. Just don't follow some guideline without understanding what it means.

I think the 200m zero gives you the best of most worlds...little variation.
