After the WW2 shooter finishes, we need someone with an M14, a 1911 and an 870 to run, complete with steel helmet and flak vest, and then someone in a PASGT vest and helmet with an A2 rifle and an LBV2, an M9 and a Mossberg 500.

.223 semi auto for rifle is pretty common
12ga semi or pump for shotgun (preferably with a mag extension)
your choice of pistol as long as it is 9mm or larger

Somebody should run it with a Garand, a double barrel sxs, and a 1911 or M1917.

I belive Larue did a ww2 based 3 gun

That would be awesome.

I would love to show up at Rockcastle with my retro AR build, Ithaca 37, and a Rem-Rand 1911 for a Vietnam era set up.

Rifle is almost always an AR-15 with a 1-4X zoom scope with iron sights at a 45 degree angle. No class penalty for the irons (used for close < under 10 yard > shots). 1-4 lets you hit most anything out there. 16-18" barrel with a FF paper towel tube hand guard.

Pretty much the best shotgun is a Benelli M2.

Pistol is personal preference. Generally a Glock or Sig 9mm from what I've seen. Some competitions will put you in another category for using single stacks, but your rifle or shotgun may bump you back into the class where a double stack pistol will negate it.

This really cute chick I knew in college, who I really wanted to bone, was big in the fansub community. Despite that, she was really hot. So I started taking Japanese and working on fansubs to get her attention.... didn't work out. She married some douche.

But I ended up with a pretty awesome collection of then-current anime fansubs. Holy shit, Haibane Renmei and Wolf's Rain were awesome.

There's a "heavy iron" category for some matches. You need to run a .308 rifle, 12 gauge pump shotgun, and 45 ACP <usually single stack> pistol. However, with a lever or bolt action you will not be competitive and your scores will be down with the people with multiple technical fouls. It may be fun to do once or twice (assuming you're an amazing 3gun shooter) but showing up to a 5-stage competition with a bolt gun, taking par+5 minutes to complete each course and getting penalties for not hitting the 400 yard target = "that was fun once.. no wait it wasn't."

Period 3gun sounds like it would be a shit-ton of fun.

Lever rifle, single action revolver and coach gun

Bolt gun, double action revolver, trench gun (with bayonet)

Garand (or comparable semi-auto), 1911 (or comparable pistol), pump shotgun

M14/A1/AK/FAL/G3, 1911/Makarov/BHP, 870

A2/AK74, M9/Makarov, 870/500

imagine revolutionary war 3 gun.

Flintlock rifle, flintlock pistol, canon, and gangrene. No thanks.

I don't like to compete to WIN, I like to compete to have fun.

If I can outperform someone, using obsolete equipment, I consider it fun

If you are useing a bolt gun you probably wont be out preforming too many people (if any)

3gun isnt bullseye, you score is time + targets missed/not engaged

I'd have 16 AR with 4 MOA red dot, I could change optic easily. Mossy 500 7+1. Sig P229 .40.

Sounds like I need a G17.

Don't give into the hate
stay with the signess,  you just need a 9mm conversion barrel
Does that do anything for my round count?

Grin is a troll IRL

Well considering back in September I was scoring successive hits on a 154m silhouette plate with an iron-sighted M44, and people with 3-9x40's on their ARs were missing....

And you had a 1-4 like most people.

Unlike most people I had an ACOG, and unlike most people I looked cool as shit doing well on the one stage where we shot at any distance.

I had an ACOG on my AR for the first year. It was pretty impractical for most things and I ended up point shooting most targets, for better or for worse. But there was one stage with IIRC 4 steel targets ranging from 100-400 yards. It took me 5 shots to ring them all
