Looking at buying a 2013 SR5 with the 5.7, getting the double cab so I can get the longer bed and it's going to be 4x4. Question is what are you guys getting mileage wise out of these things? Are they as bad as I hear? Seems like everyone loves them including gas companies.

I'm getting rid of my Dodge 2500 Cummins do to the truck falling apart around the engine, but I'm going to miss this being able tsmoky run 99.9% of the vehicles on the road. The tundra test driving it, feels like a little 4cyl, but runs circles around the 6.2 and 5.3, I test drove.

i have a 2012 5.7 doublecab rock warrior which has the bigger and heavier e load tires and mine has the 4.30 rear gears too, not sure if you would have the 4.10 or 4.30 rear. but i get 14-15 average and i dont get on the highway to much. on the highway in a mountainy area i averaged 18mpg. i wouldnt trade my truck for anything! you wont be dissapointed with the purchase unless you expect a 4cyl cars gas mileage

My '07 Tundra Doublecab could pass anything on the highway except for the gas station.

17mpg highway with bug guard and tri-fold hard tonneau. You're gonna love it.

My '08 CrewMax 5.7l gets about 14-15 mpg.

It is my second Tundra (it replaced my '05) and it is the fourth Toyota truck I've owned (I had two prior Tacomas a '99 and an '02).

Get one and you'll never look back.

Actually yes, I built it for drag racing. Had another Dodge as a DD, but had to sell it 1.5yrs ago do to keeping my head float and not have a truck payment, so I kept the paid off drag truck and made it back into a DD. Now I'm in a good position and can buy a new truck. And with diesel being .80 cents more expensive and the new EPA regs on diesels, killing the MPGs, they are no longer worth the extra cash, IMO.

I get 15 MPG with my 2008 DC 2WD with 5.7L and no tail gate. If I slowed down, I'd probably get an additional 1 MPG...
