I'm sure many of you know by now how hard it's been to locate our favorite blasting ammo, and mine lately has been 22LR. Now due to the fact it has pretty much dried up in upsate NY, I figured out I check gunbroker and let me tell you Has the world gone mad? the prices for this little bullet has gone insane. I know everyone wants to keep a little stash on hand, but holy shit!!!!!!!!!!

i think 5k of .22lr fits in fat .50 cal cans ....   .22LR is the first ammo i stocked up on in 07' and made sure i had enough to last till i die ...

I said it before and ill say it again , .22lr is the new 5.56...

7k will fit into a 30cal can. 10k in a 50. After that it gets too heavy. I imagine you could fit 15k into a fat 50. We're talking 50lbs or more in a fat 50.

I've looked for 2 months for some around here.  None.  I gave up even looking anymore.  Unless you are at the magical store that actually gets a shipment in at the exact time the ammo pallet leaves the back room...you're not getting any.

Last time I bought 22lr was 2009, I grabbed 10 550 Federal packs for $13 each. I'd sell it for $75/ box now but I'm having too much fun shooting it with my buddies!

LGS had about a pallet of Federal American Eagle 500 round bricks the other day for $15.99.  I bought 3 even though I already have enough .22 ammo to last a lifetime or two.  It was just hard to pass up $1.59 a box.

They also had some CCI Stingers 900 for $100 with a free 30 cal ammo can.  Not a bad deal but I have enought stingers.

My favorite stuff though is through the roof.  Aqulia Super Maximums are now $55.99 per 500 rd brick.

Sad..... just plain out sad.

Even worse some of them  are probably first time ar buyers that think they can shoot it out of their new $3000 rifle.

Seemed to me that in 2008, it was the last to dry up and the last to make a come back.

I only have about 2K left of .22LR and its sad that you can't even find that on the shelves.

I see plenty of .22WMR. If I could find something that could fire that I'd just buy the gun and run that ammo.

It's frustrating.

Haven't seen any anywhere lately.  Stopped at Walmart, they were out of everything but .40, .380, 30-06, .243, 22mag and a few 100rnd boxes of 22short.  I bought some 22short and left disappointed.

9mm is getting scarce, too.. And even Herters brass jacket stuff is almost 15 bucks for 50.  WTF

only thing around here not drying up/totally gone is 17M2, 17HMR, 22mag, .380, .40S&W and .270Win and shotshells of all flavors. we had no .22LR ammo at our shop, so I took two bricks of Rem Golden bullet stuff from home just to see what would happen. first guy that saw them offered $150 for both bricks. I did a and then took his money.

Our bass pro had plenty of the Troy Landry cci stuff for like 28 for 375. I'm good though I have enough to run both my cmmg kits and all my other .22's for a few years. Walmarts are emptied near me.

The Fin in Ashland Ohio.

These prices were as of Friday.  You were allowed 5 bricks of 500 or 3 cases of 900 per person.

You can run 9mm for about the same price as 22 mag...it ain't cheap... I have a nice little 22 mag revolver that I have stocked
up ammo for. A local gun shop here has CCI .22LR for $34.00 a brick but I have probably got 6K rounds or more of .22 stashed.

We had a store selling Blazer bricks for $15.99 last weekend. I was short so I didn't grab any. But they run the sale about every 3 months so no big deal.

I always liked the Blazers for cheap ammo that always goes bang.  I have not seen them around here in about 3 years.  I only have a few hundrend left.  All i usually see now days in plinking ammo is Federal American Eagle, Federal 525 and Remington Goldens.

On gunbroker those are getting $210...I've got one sitting in my garage.

I haven't noticed the prices lately, I haven't bought any in a while. I've still about 70, 000 or so kicking around.

EDTA: There's about 8000 just on the lower door, close to 9 X that in the lower cabinet. I've no idea what the rest would be worth today. I've been back into reloading for the last few years.

I only run subsonic .22 ammo, so for me I haven't seen a price change and it isn't too hard to find. I picked up a few hundred rounds last week just to stock up.

They had 6 of them.  Tempting very tempting.  I just don't want to contribute to the madness.  I want it to end to I can build more rfles.
