I was getting ready to go to the Guns across America Rally in Utah yesterday
when I could not find my single point sling for the AR i was going to open carry. so I grabbed the first SKS i found in my safe and ripped the sling off it. Now everyone in Toledo can laugh at my sling. who knew that the AP Photographer wasn't bull shitting me. http://www.toledoblade.com/Nation/2013/01/19/Thousands-rally-in-state-capitals-from-New-England-to-Texas-against-stricter-gun-control-laws.html and here is a screen grab from the website |

CTD will be selling "tactical" SKS slings for $69.98 by the end of the week.....

Have you had a chance to actually use this substitute sling for shooting, to see how it stacks up?

I have the same "tactical carry" handle, and I'm lookin around for optics. |

Oh. I prefer absolute CW.
Might just have to get a T1/H1, they do an absolute CW with factory low mount |

Here is the thread on real slings.

I did the same thing. My wife wanted to carry a rifle but I only had one sling that could be used for 2 point so I made a sling out of part of another sling and back pack hardwhare. Worked pretty well.

well crap.. now the folks in Australia know about my shitty sling choices

A: awesome!
B: i hate single-point--the rifle bounces around constantly. C: with 2 zip-ties (at stock and front sight tower), you could have turned that into a 'tactical' carry sling. edit: but C would not have been as cool as what you wound up with. |

good work...
few ppl know those were actually made by magpul anyway |

What exactly are we supposed to be laughing at?
I am not sure that I have ever really noticed what someone else uses for a sling... |

Meh... Single points are ghey anyways. Naw, they are great for a course or if you're actually shooting. They just suck if you have to walk around a bunch and you don't need to keep your rifle at low ready the whole time. |

The forces exerted on the barrel will change the point of impact more if the bipod is further from the magwell. Unless the handguard is free floated, then it doesn't really matter. |
