Hi,

I bet only a hand full of these have ever been imported in the US, if any at all.

Have you ever seen one of these on a range (non-LE) near you? What do they cost?

Hi,

The bolt is open and the mag is out (standard safety stuff..). It comes with a couple of 20-rounders.

Over here in Europe they're reasonably (about $1700) priced if you can get your hands on one, of course.

Cheers,

There was one for sale a while back on either Subguns or Sturmgewehr.
Its owner was asking like 16K for it I believe.
If I remember right, it was advertised as one of only three in the country.

Cheapest way to get one (if you're a civvie) is to buy a Sig550/1 for about $7000-8000.

Than go get a short bbl kit from Larry at CCF, for $1600, plus the $200 SBR tax stamp.  Install, and you now have a Sig552 all for the low, low price of under $10K.

A bit too much for a semi-auto SBR if you ask me, plus of course the #s of the bbl and receiver won't match, if you're into that sort of thing.

300ydClean, you are right, there are only three in this country, but the price is 17k, not 16k.

DUDE, that is so very way cool, it looks just like a red X. New tactical scheme right? They can't see it for what it is until it's too late!

Seriously though, did you buy that off of GunsAmerica, or where you the guy that posted it?
That weapon has a truly business like appearance to it. Congrats!!!!!

Only about 15 of the 552's were imported into the US before Bush's '89 ban. Less than 500 of the 550's got in at the same time. What a damn shame.

RG, how dare you make me drool and envy you.[:(]

I have a friend with a 550SP and a 551SP.  Nice rifles but not 3-4 times nicer than a 93 or Galil ARM .223, nor 5-7 times nicer than an AR, and it still has worse iron-sights than an AR.

So I'm assuming that this is a pre-dealer sample?   I say that, because I've never seen a gun imported as an SBR for normal civilian consumption.

A SIG SG 552 costs about 1500 dollars here. Had to say something to this thread.

Tuuka,

That's about $100 less than what they charge for them in Holland.

That was the last, about, price confirmed, it´s been a while now. We will be in contact to Holland tomorrow. If im not mistaken there were some problems with the early 552s in functioning and this delayed the sales of the weapon, any solid info on this.

Hi Tuuka,

There indeed have been problems with this model although I think this was exclusively with the selective-fire variants. I've seen one some time ago that broke its operating-rod at the junction with the boltcarrier due to the increased bolt-thrust generated with the short gas-system combined with a very high rate of fire in full-auto.

You'll notice that this is a new model with integrated picatinny-rail which makes using a scope easier without needing the 'exclusive' (read: expensive) SIG scopemount. Trijicon sells their ACOG 3.5x BAC scope complete with integrated SIG mount, but the price is steep. This is a 551 with the mentioned Trijicon scope:

But these buggers ARE a blast to shoot, although I'd be hard pressed to pay the ridiculous prices they ask for them in the US..

Cheers,

Hi,

For comparison, these are the full-size models PE90 (civilian) and 550 (military).

This, my friend, are the most accurate military rifles straight out of the box. Excellent barrels and triggers! Stock, that is.

Hi Sundog,

To answer your question, the green rifle is the standard one while the blue and black specimens are special editions.
