I don't remember what thread I saw it in but I'm pretty sure Lamar Smith said he was head of the Judicial committee and wouldn't even let an AWB make it out of the committee

He is already getting hammered from the left for not being more extreme. He barely squeaked out his last election and may be facing a challenger at the primary level as well. I'll use my first post here to say this: Begich (Alaska) is starting to wobble towards the abyss. I think the "machine" is starting to lean on him. He knows it will be political suicide if he toes the Dem's line, but he doesn't have the spine to stand up to them. At this point he doesn't know whether to shit or go blind.
Time to turn up the heat on him. |

Sessions is my senator, and he's been pretty solid on 2nd amendment issues. Unfortunately, though, he's been pretty solid following the establishment GOP party line, too. I'd like to see him go, and it's unlikely his successor would be anti-gun.

The Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act was passed in response to an attack on President Reagan in which Secretary Brady was injured. The 1993 law required gun purchasers to pass a background check to ensure that they were not a felon or did not fall into a number of other prohibitive classes. The measure passed the senate 63-36. I was shocked by this horrifying event, and my heart goes out to the victims, families and the Sandy Hook community as they face this tragedy.
