I can be surfing the web on FF and every so often it freezes up and says 'Not Responding' while parts of web pages I have previously looked at flash up in a mess in the background(other parts of the screen go black). It then returns to normal after 20 seconds or so. I also have Windows explorer freeze up when opening photo files from 'My Pictures'.

Something I can fix or is it about ready to kick the bucket?

If you aren't already, you should back up your important files.

You may be running a bunch of nonsense in the background without realizing it that's consuming a lot of your computer's resources. Can you give details on your hardware and OS?
