Surprised no one has mentioned this before.... BUT.....

Let's face it. We all know that a new AWB would do nothing to deter future crimes, especially ones that involve "assault rifles".

First step - get them registered.

Next step. Wait for a couple more odd crimes like 'grandpa shoots pumpkin with registered assault rifle, kills grand daughter instead" and "trayvonne steals legally registered assault rifle from owner on vacation, shoots rival drug dealer".

These stories continue to make national news, convincing America that the already registered assault rifles need to now be confiscated because despite a ban, the crimes continue to happen.

Hence registration leading to confiscation, and I'm just demonstrated exactly how it would be done. Blow a bunch of otherwise BORING stories out of proportion while crossing fingers for another massacre since it would help the cause.

We know that bans of entire classes do nothing to deter future crimes. That's exactly the plan and they know that. It's all in the master plan to show that anything short of EVERYONE turning EVERYTHING in is ineffective.

Definitely 'obvious' to us but that is how they will do it, it's how MANY rifles were confiscated here. Steyr AUG's, Franchi SPAS-12's and a bunch of others

Changed classification from "Non restricted" to "restricted" and forced them to be registered, then when they passed the OIC's (almost like an executive order, but made by the cabinet not just our head of state) changing the classification from "restricted" to "prohibited" they knew exactly where they were and went door to door.

Because they were classified as a restricted firearm already, if you didn't HAVE it, you would get charged with improper storage and go to jail and lose all your guns anyways.

Yeah. Unfortunately, no new legislation is going to stop the crazies from either using an already purchased (and definitely unregistered) "Bushwhacker" or stealing a "Snickerschnauser" from a neighbor. It's going to keep happening and the media will blow it out of proportion, soliciting further activism from the liberal loonies.

We have to kill the ban now.
