The Colorado Bureau of Investigation plans to ask lawmakers for half a million dollars to help it more quickly process the huge backlog of background checks for gun buyers that has deluged the agency for weeks.
Against this backdrop, state Rep. Claire Levy, a Boulder Democrat who favors stricter restrictions on guns, suggested gun purchasers should pay a fee for the background checks, which are now done at no cost to would-be gun buyers. "Anyone else, whether it's a teacher or law enforcement officer, anyone else who needs a background check has to pay for it," Levy said, "but the rest of the taxpayers are subsidizing background checks for gun buyers." Thank you for your suggestion. Now, get your ass back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich!

Um, we do. That's what I was thinking but apparently she believes we should pay twice. |

Sure, right after the scumbags on East Colfax start having background checks on their street bought guns they use to commit crimes against us law abiding citizens. |

Repeal the 1968 GCA, problem solved.
If one is not fit to own a gun, do not release them from prison. |

Um, we do. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I paid one at one time. Maybe it was before the program was modified in late 1990's. |

Um, we do. Ok, good. I thought I was getting screwed all these years I've been charged $10 to do my own background check. |

Nevada residents already have to pay 25 bucks for the check unless we have a CCW obtained after July 1st of this year.

Wheres the fucking eye bleach? |

I'm going with guilty on this one. |

Priceless. Only Dem. could come up with an "ala carte" approach to law enforcement.
|
|
Pay for the check because I use the check system?
Sure thing, rep. cuntwhistle. As soon as those lazy fuckers on welfare pay for their own goddamned government cheese. |
|
Does everybody who flies on airlines pay a TSA surcharge to cover the cost of the TSA gropers and X-ray pornographers?
Seriously, I am asking that because I haven't flown in 7 years and work paid for that. |

There should be a waiting period on all new/proposed legislation...Like say 5 years or so.
That, and the legislative committees should only convene every two or three years. |

A Democrat suggesting more taxes? NO WAY! Democrats hate taxes.

In NJ you pay $18.00 for a background check in order to get a Pistol Purchase Permit and $15.00 for NICS when you pick it up. I'd like to see a legal challenge on fees to exercise your Constitutional rights. Mike |

sure
as soon as people have to pay to vote and media outlets have to pay a first amendment fee |
|
2a violation.
if they can't even have ID laws for voting because of the "cost" of obtaining one, even if the actual ID is free (the transportation is enough of a cost)..........I don't see how they can charge for a NICS check. Just let them try, I hope some entrepreneuring lawyer would LOVE to make some $$$ off that case. Slam dunk as far as I am concerned. |
|
Hell up here in PA I have paid for all of my NICS calls. I believe I am charged $5 and I have bought 6 guns since October. It doesn't bother me personally.
|
|
Guilty as all hell! Ban her for the good of the chirren. |
|
We already do pay.
can have up to 4 guns on one NICS check.....$10 (the FFL pockets the other $20) |
|
I propose a background check prior to voting. If you don't get a proceed then no vote for you.
|
|
She should maybe add a tax for every time you get pulled over to pay a tax for the police to run check on your DL too. Sounds like a great money maker to me.
Perhaps they should impose a tax to be rep or senator but instead of money it will be an IQ test. |
|
So if she's not a hypocrite she would like to tax all of our other rights too? Anytime you want to make a public comment online or in a paper you need to pay a fee for a background check and to make sure your opinion falls within the guidelines? Another tax and check before I practice my religion? |

I stopped at "Boulder"
thats my hometown, but it is overflowing with feel good, bleeding heart commies. |

Colorado doesnt use NICS, we use a state run system administered by CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigations) and it is a joke.
Tell you what, switch to NICS and the cost to Colorado goes to zero, problem solved. |
|
The Democrats wanted the system, the Democrats want to increase the size and scope of the federal government, and the Democrats got this passed at the federal level. So the feds should pay for the program. Just like Obamacare.
I know Kentucky is taking full advantage of the free NICs checks. They run a check monthly on every CCDW holder. This allows us the ability to purchase firearms with our CCDW instead of having to go through the standard NICs check. Smart move on Kentucky's part, making the feds pay for all of it. My question would be will the Democrats force Kentucky to pay for millions of background checks every year. If Kentucky would still run the check then the fee wouldn't apply to me because I can purchase without a NICs check. Bottom line is stupid Democrat is stupid and has zero understanding of guns, NICS, CCW, and how the ATF currently works. |
