ask "why do police carry firearms"

answer is to protect themselves and others against people who intend to do harm.

then ask if they have ever called 911 for any reason and how long did it take for police to respond (i lived in upstate NY and called the police one evening and it took 45 minutes for an officer to arrive)

the people who intend to do us harm do not rationalize like "normal people" at that point you cannot reason with them. some times a person will be content with stealing cash or valuables but if these people had normal reasoning they would not be stealing in the first place.

i am tired of people using "Police should be the only ones with these weapons" as an argument without thinking about it.
