The first paragraph is particularly damning. I know its basically preaching to the choir, but why the hell can't people understand the real problems with violent crime instead of pinning the blame on inanimate objects? In a more logical world, these statistics would be plastered on every media outlet known to man. Don't give violent criminals a chance to commit more violent crimes. Seems fairly straightforward to me.
