EDIT: This is his TGT account
First question, is it against arfcom rules to post the screen caps from my phone, including phone number? Name of the scammer? Anyway, I posted a VEPR12 for a gouge price of $1850 with 5 mags (2 5-rd Molot, 2 12-rd SGM & 1 8-rd Izzy). I didn't want to sell it, but could use the cash. Within minutes a local guy claims it "I'll take it". Some texts and we agree to meet in the morning. We meet but he has $1200 and tries to talk me into it. I walk and he later calls me with a sob story, and I agree to $1500. He gets the shotty for $1200, and his buddy buys the mags for $300. I wondered if it was legit, but most people don't give out their phone number. And I guess I am a trusting fool. Within minutes of selling him the shotty and driving off, while waiting for his buddy to text me back, his buddy texts offering $175 for the mags. Right then I knew I was tag teamed. He tried to bs his way out, and later someone from the same phone is asking WTF these texts are about. It seems the buyer used someone elses phone. So yeah the gun is his; I sold it. I know there is no legal recourse, but wanted to share my stupidity. |

probably a prohibited buyer on top of it He had a CHL. |

I would of told him to eat shit and die. Live and learn i suppose.
|

-1 the Motherfornicator..... If he can't go about it honestly, then fuhgeddabowdit! That's friggin' BS just to save a couple hundred bucks. Shoulda told him to buy the the lot and sell the mags to his bud himself. |
|
I don't think you were scammed, just lied to. Next time tell the guy he can work out whatever deal he wants to with his buddy, but you're selling your shit for $1500. No $1500? No shit. Lesson learned, move on.

It was Texas gun trader. He is a member here from the conversation but I don't know his S/N.
I wouldn't say scammed if he hadn't used someone elses phone to fool me. And yes I realize I am a moron. Lesson learned. |

Like you guys wouldn't pull the same shit and pat yourself in the back for being so bright.

Is it against arfcom rules to post names, phone numbers or the screen caps from the texts?
|
|
Why wasn't the mag buyer there too? I wouldn't have gave up the gun without the mag deal going on at the same time.
|
|
You CANNOT post people's real info, but their user names on forums is OK.

Shoulda told him to buy the the lot and sell the mags to his bud himself. This is the way. I had a guy try to do something similar with a rifle/scope combo. Tried to get me to take the scope off and his buddy would come by later. Nothing doing, buy the rifle as is and he can sell his buddy the scope or show up together. They did not get either and i sold it on a board and made $300 more than I was asking locally and had 2 more buyers lined up to if the first deal fell through. I made money on the rifle but apparently I was undervaluing it. (rem 700 ti mountain) |

You were robbed....fill out stolen rifle report at local police station.

i dont see how you were scammed here
you willingly sold your weapon for 1200 and you still have your mags, right? other than under-pricing the weapon, I see no problem |
|
I expected something totally different based off the title
That sucks though, OP |
|
this is why i post a price i am willing to take and wont take one dollar less. Sob story or not. No money no deal.

I wish I could believe people were smarter but every single day you see something to prove otherwise.
