Did anyone else see this article on The Daily Beast?
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/12/18/don-t-arm-america-a-soldier-s-reply-to-connecticut-shooting.html I don't usually read this particular website, but I stumbled across this particular festival of ignorance and I couldn't help but be puzzled. Here are some highlights from a retired Special Forces Colonel Tony Schwalm about concealed carry: "Pistols are worthless when facing a rifle, and all the Taliban carry AK-47" "I’ve decided I don’t want to spend another cent on guns, but rather intend to prepare myself mentally and physically for the unlikely scenario of having to act like a responsible citizen in a crisis." "I also know I have a ferocious temper, and I could be tempted to use my sheepdog weapon on somebody who is playing music too loud at a gas station" "I don’t want to be surrounded by people who think they know who the wolves are." Tony Schalm is listed as a contributor to The Daily Beast, but this is his first and only article. Tony Schalm recently published a book, The Guerrilla Factory: The Making of Special Forces Officers, the Green Berets, which was released on November 13th, 2012. I'm not saying he is trying to drum up press for his new book, but I am saying that I am not going to buy it. |

Well it sounds like maybe he shouldn't own a gun if he has those thoughts, but he can also go to fucking hell by saying no one should own a gun for his issues.
|
|
Don't really give a shit about people's occupations sometimes.
"I SERVED IN THE ARMED FORCES!!! LISTEN TO ME!!!!" Yeah, no. |
|
Well, fuck him for his opinion. Nobody is forcing him and his out of control temper to have a gun.

Yea, there's dumbasses in coolguy jobs too. this. I know a LOT of .mil types who think only .mil should have arms and a lot of folks in the military who hunt and think we should get rid of ebr's. |

As the days go by, I have less and less respect for what are becoming nothing more than the hired mercenaries who kill at the behest of our political class.

AK 47's are quite affective in the right hands against enemy troops. Which is exactly what the Second Amendment was written for. So when the government decides it no longer will abide by the Constitution, or serve the people, then the people have the ability to defend themselves against that government. If there was ever time in this nation that citizens should own these types of weapons, it's right now. Probably the very reason behind all the gun control legislation because they know full well that they no longer serve the people, no longer represent the people, and no longer plan to abide by the Constitution.

"sheepdog weapon"??????
What kind of an autistic chimp refers to themselves as a 'sheep dog' |
|
Sounds like he desires constant control. Not just gun control.

Agreed Being a former spec ops guy doesnt make you immune from being an idiot, nor does it automatically make you an authority on whether or not i should be able to defend myself. There are idiots in every profession. |

I also know I have a ferocious temper, and I could be tempted to use my sheepdog weapon on somebody who is playing music too loud at a gas station" "Sheepdog" what the fuck Sounds like maybe YOU shouldn't own a gun, asshole. |

Some Constitutional Scholars advocate for gun control. It doesn't make them right.

Sounds like proof that you can find people with a case of the dumbass anywhere. |
|
My TL while I was in was telling me about a guy he grew up with who joined SF who was later arrested for molesting his own daughter.
Should we Ban SF? It's for the children is it not? |

Oh. Colonel wants his 15 mins of fame. And he is willing to be absolutely stupid to get it.
First sentence in the article: "U.S. society feels like a war zone to me." "What a maroon." |
|
I know far many more people in group that would say otherwise.
Anyone know if this Colonel was a paper tab? |

Crazy dude who might snap at loud music, who is trained in killing and probably physically stronger then most. |

Here are some real gems that I found on Tony Schwalm's twitter feed, his words are in quotes mine are not:
"For US, there is no longer win or lose in Afghanistan. It's stay or leave. We leave. My rage at what was squandered is useless. Last tweet." "Landing airplanes and inbound rockets sound nearly identical." No Tony, they don't. I have heard both and I have never mistook one for the other. "Living in the barracks, sharing room with 3 other men. Re-learning politeness in tight spaces. And, we all have loaded weapons. Good lesson." "Difficult to capture Afghanistan in words, less so the nature of this conflict. One thing is certain: we are in a proxy war. But with whom?" |
|
If pistols are useless against an ak-47, and the Taliban all use ak-47s, why do our armed forces still get issued and carry sidearms? What a stupid asshat.
