I just noticed this earlier this week.  I thought I heard a storm referred to by a name on the radio, then at my parents house Christmas day the tv was on TWC and I heard it again.

Is this something new?

I've only ever known of tropical storms/hurricanes getting named before.

Winter storms were always, "The big storm in 1977" or whatever year....

Just TWC hyping things to generate buzz. Buzz ups the viewership and, therefore, ad revenue goes up.

We got 7" in IN yesterday (some got 14").  You would have thought it was the end of the world. The main roads were all passable yesterday afternoon and the highways were clear this morning.  No traffic of course because all the businesses were closed.

That storm had a name.

We are a nation of pussies.

P.S.--A friend today framed the U.S. perfectly.  It's like Amway.  If you got in early, you made out.  If you don't, you're screwed.  We will be left holding the bag when this place is sucked dry and collapses.  How does this relate to the above?  Everything is a scam.  Every news story is fluffed like a '70's porn star's dick.  We are sold and 'messaged' non-stop.  Companies improve their stock price through increased sales.  How do you increase sales in a tapped out market?  Convince people they NEED your product or they need MORE of it.  This place is a combination of Disney World, Wal-Mart and the Mustang Ranch.  It looks pretty, it's all cheap shit and you're gonna get fucked and end up broke.

Hallelujah, Holy Shit, where's the tylenol?
