I obtained a copy of "The Travels" authrored by Marco Polo. As I started to read this book I asked myself what I might possbly learn from a tex this old. One of the thing I learned is that not much has changed in the Middle East.
I would like to share a quote with you from the book; this theme is repeated many times-
Here Marco Polo describes some of the people from the city of Tabriz.
"The Saracens there are particulary wicked and treacherous. The law of the Prophet Mohammed has taught them that they may maltreat as they please men of other religions; they may assault and rob them with impunity, and if it were not for the supervision and authority of the government they would do a great deal of evil. Saracens the world over seem to behave this way."
Not much has changed. I don't care if we have proof about Iraq- Lets make an example of Yankee (Johnny Reb too) retribution.
