Why not have some retired .mil guys sworn in as reserve deputies stationed at schools?

You can't just wave a magic wand over someone becuase they happened to be in the military.

You have to do psychological testing, background checks, and then train them.

How about putting satellite offices inside schools when appropriate?

I could see this being a win/win in some situations.
