we've done a couple--started one in the mountains that got some activity.  the previous poster has it right--it adds points of interest whenever you're out hiking new territory.

I enjoy it. I've taken the spousal unit Urban Geocaching. People hide 35mm film containers in street lights in parking lots.

The last two geocaches that I found had shit in one, and grannyporn in the other.  I'm done with geocaching

Used to do it when it was new, people seemed more creative and the loot was better.

Now I just do it from time to time when on a vacation, it's a good way to find areas I wouldn't normally. It is also a good platform to spread 2A information.

Finding things with today's ultra accurate GPS units is fun anyway.

I don't geocache but I love using my GPS in the woods.  I go deeper and wander incredibly more than I ever did.   No retracing your path to get back to your vehicle.  Just keep going and get back to your vehicle through the other side of the woods.

We geocache. When going on a trip you can look for caches on te way and plan your stops accordingly. Some are extremely hard to find.

I can't even find half the easy ones. But I try on occasion. My area isn't super busy so when no one has marked it as found in a month I just assume it's gone.

We enjoy doing it.  It makes the kids more excited to go on long hikes.  The treasure is never great, but the fun is just finding the stash.

Me and the GF do it. I have found some awesome spots in the Black Hills cache'en.

I have found some that are very basic hides, to fake pine cones in trees, or the magnetic bison tube ones are always a challenge.

I have found a couple with out even having coordinates knowing it was there or using a gps.

one was on top of angels landing the gf sat down next to a fucking condor and after it flew away turned the other way and saw one.

another was at maryjane falls near las vegas just sat on a tree and it was underneath

Make sure you get an account on Geocaching.com.

I've been there for about 10 years now.

And get their app for your smartphone, you can find caches on the fly and flag them real time.

I set up my free account at geocaching.com. I have a free 30 premium membership I haven't used yet. I got it with my new gps I got for Xmas. I know I will be leaving behind a challenge coin at the one I am planning on hitting this afternoon.

thanks for all the input.

What do you guys normally find in the caches besides a log book?

I do when I'm on vacation. My iPhone works ok, but its usually 30ft off and some stashes are hidden well.
I use to have a travel bug, but it was stolen or lost and hasn't been reported on in over a year.
Hope you have fun.

Got into it probably 7 years ago.  It was fun, but didn't keep my interest for very long.  Got kind of old after finding the local cache's.  Never bothered to keep a GPS around with locations for when I was traveling.

Been doing Geocaching for several years. Hate the nano's and micro's and stupid magnetic key holders on guard rails. Prefer the ones in parks or scenic areas. My geocaching has dropped off the last year or two due to gas prices.

It's fun, sometimes you will see places you would otherwise never see.  I've even done it in other countries.

Been caching for awhile now.  It's great fun!  It will lead you to the strangest places in the city you live in.  Places you would've never found if it wasn't for caching.
