Sometimes I'll be sitting in one room with my dog in another. Usually the dog will follow me where ever I go, but occasionally she falls asleep and stays put if I go to another room. But, if I don't come back after a couple of minutes then she'll wander in to check up on me. Often times she will go back to where she was sleeping, but if I don't come back after a few more minutes then she'll come check on me again. After two or three times she'll just stay in the room with me so that she can keep an eye on me.

Does anyone else's do do this?

Every morning, as soon as I turn off the shower, my youngest dog pushes open the bathroom door and comes in to check on me. He looks in the shower and turns around and walks out. My wife and I say he's checking to make sure the shower monster hasn't gotten me.

All three of them. Leave them alone for a few minutes and they come looking for me or my wife. They are Weimaraners, so they are sort of paranoid but boy are they glad to see us when we get home.

Yep.

My Neo Mastiff is super protective. Makes rounds through the house at night, checks on everybody. Is teaching our English Mastiff pup to do the same thing.

Our Lhasa almost never leaves my wife's side. That's very good, since we're going to train him for service for her, makes things much easier.

Our lab sleeps in our room, so if he's tired, he'll come into the living room and start wining until one of us goes to bed. I think he's scared of the dark.

Yes. My Aussie does that often. I even try to sneak away from him, and he will come around the corner to make sure I didn't disappear.

Our dog can't stand not being in a different room than we are. He is always in the same room as us, or he runs back and forth between two different rooms if we are seperated.

When I'm in the shower, she either continues to sleep in the bed or gets on the couch. When I get out of the shower, she comes back and gets on her bed beside the bathroom. I'm allowed some time by myself in another room, but if I spend too much time in there, she comes looking for me.

My dog never leaves my wife. When my wife is in another room my dog will definitely come to see from time-to-time and sometimes he'll park himself hafway between us.

I've had 3 Rott's and 3 GSD's.

The Rott's have always been kinda casual about what I'm doing/where I'm at (unless it involves making food noises).

The GSD's have always stuck to me like glue and will always keep me in sight when I am around them...

yeah man... He makes his rounds. He will clear the whole house, and keep checking back on us. Also, he has a fondness for my son... If my son is playing in is playroom alone, the dog will lay outside the doorway and keep watch..... He's a boxer, so he's a natural watchful fella.

Yep, and not only me. The Beagle checks occaisionally on my neighbor, welcomes him home with a howling greeting and demands he let her in and give her a treat. Then she comes home to see what she can scam off me and the wife.

Sleeps next to me in her doggie bed.

My Husky/GSD mix will sleep in the living room between the den and bedroom if I stay up to watch tv and the wife goes to bed early. He'll stay there till I go to bed. Once I'm in bed he'll get in his bed at the foot of ours.

Mine will usually check on me once after I leave the room. If they're up to something they shouldn't be, they'll come check on me a few times to make sure they're not busted. A second visit in an hour or so is my que to go stop them from whatever they are doing before the damage gets too expensive.

Zorro does this. He doesn't whine anymore. He just sits in begging position and waits and waits. We can feel his soft brown eyes piercing into us.

And if we make any move in the general direction of the bedroom at this point, he jumps up, grabs a toy in his mouth and runs into the bedroom, tail wagging. If we don't follow, he comes sulking out, giving us these horribly effective guilt-inducing looks, hammering home how disappointed he is.

But to the OP's question, Zorro does check on the house and us throughout the evening. Always alert, always on patrol. Every now and then I do find myself alone (like just now) at which point, as the house is very quiet, that means he's up to something.

Jake just sleeps (mostly because Zorro's "in control" of the situation so Jake just chills).

Doberman. He checks up on everyone in the house, follows me like a shadow, and only lays where he can either see out of the window or is between us and the door. If we move, he moves. If I am out of town, he lays with his back against our bedroom door while my wife sleeps. Yes, he checks up on us every second

I have a jack Russell and lab I keep outside during the day. My russell will stare into the patio doors for hours watching me cool food, watch tv, etc. He'll sleep for a few minutes then get up to see if I've moved. Funny little bugger.

Used to.

We had to put Indy down this year.

That dog secured his territory. He would get up a time or two each night and make rounds. If we had a guest, he would sleep outside my daughters door to place himself between the "stranger" and her. He like to know hwere everybody was in the house.

He was a fabulous pooch, his family misses him.

Got three dogs that will check on me. When one is getting a bath the other two will come in and out of the bathroom to see until it's their turn then the hall ass. And when one is going to the vet or the groomer they will look for that one. When he returns they greet him when.

Yes mine do also. This morning we video taped out Christmas morning (Guam) and our Lab got right in the middle of all of us and just looked at the Camcorder the whole time.

Yep, well actually never leaves my side long enough to have to check on me. Guess it is in his nature (blk/tan Doberman) he will even lay in the doorway when I'm in the toilet at if he is guarding the entrance. Nuttin like a 100lb lap dog that is the biggest baby, but man can be clear a path when in public guess its cause he is BLACK and scary looking. I've had parents grab their children when I walk by, it's actually pretty funny.
