I think that I over did it this year, and I am spoiling them. When I was a kid I really didn't get much because we were always struggling. I am want to get them all the stuff that I never had, but by doing so, I am worried that I am spoiling them. I spent around $300 for the two of them. Plus, my oldest child has a birthday coming up on New Years day, and we got about another $100 worth of stuff for that. I am not made of money by any means. I just want to be a good father and make up for the time that I am gone. Between deployments and training I have been gone 2 out of the last 3 years, if not more.

No kids of my own. But 2 nephews and a niece I paid like 50 bucks between all 3. They are still young though and still easy to buy for.

I spend about $300.00-$400.00 each as they are older. They usually ask for a new jacket/pants/boots/etc. and then we give them a couple inexpensive fun things.
The problem is, quality gear that will last is not cheap.

They get thier books paid for on thier birthdays.

My oldest son's birthday is mid-December so he usually gets screwed. This year I got him some damn knife he wanted, an ipad, and an 1895 Krag. Probably $800ish.

about $1000 each (I have 3 boys) But a healthy chunk of that was for wuss gifts, like clothes

I generally do more for their Birthdays in summer, rifles, bows, bikes, the usual stuff

We had no intentions of buying the grand kid anything since we bought him good warm clothes earlier for school. We bought lined pants and shirts from LL Bean, Rocky insulated boots from Cabelas, and nice insulated/waterproof Browning Jacket, coat and gloves from Gander Mtn. Well over $600.00 including school supplies.

But hell, it's the grandchild and it's Christmas, we bought him a matching Browning pants and shirt, backpack, face mask, other insulated shirts, another set of lined pants from LL Bean and a few odds and ends. Right around $200.00 worth.

Next year I may not be able to afford it but at least the wife is happy that we got him something to open this year.

This is the only child we buy for, I do have a niece and nephew we got gifts for but they were approx. $30.00 each.

I don't have kids....but I spent about $150 on my friends daughter. Her dad got her a .22, so I got her everything to go with it (soft case, scope, ammo, cleaning kit) and I also got her some other non-gun stuff that 9 y/o girls like...

We have a rule now 50.00$ limit. There is just too many of us. Sometimes we ALL just go somewhere warm for a week or so. Total bill exceeds 20k. We draw names.

But I've got 3 nephews. Cumulatively, I think I spent $1,200 on them. The youngest of them was born a month before with some health issues. So a very large chunck of that was used to furnish the babys room.

But I'm still told I spent way to much on them regardless. I sense there will be a spending limit next year.

Being an only child, my parents spoil the heck out of my kids, 3 yr old and 1 yr old.

I spent maybe $50 each on them. My parents spent a couple hundred each. That being said, I did buy a couple extra lowers and a pile of mags before the panic got out of control. I have plenty for me, so these are an early, early Christmas present for my boy and future son-in-law.

Roughly the same here. Things are tight, but even if they weren't kids are better off not being spoiled too much. Best for them to understand that money doesn't grow on trees.

We limit Christmas and Birthdays to $100.00 per child and $50.00 per grand child, otherwise spending can easily get out of control. We are attempting to set a good example for our children about living within our budget.
