One positive to being an NRA member is their firearm insurance. I forget the specifics, but they'll insure your stuff up to a certain value if it gets stolen or destroyed.
I know how you feel about the California shows. They're great if you want ammo or some jerky, but they're nothing like the shows here in Free America.
There's a big Crossroads show in Phoenix in Sept, Big_Bear. If you can make it, try. Remember being in Toys-R-Us when you were about 8 years old? it's like that only much much better.

Went to the Dayton show yesterday. 2+ hours each way. Tha only deal I found was on lithium batteries for my Shur Fire. Paid $50 for a new A2 butstock, the last part I need to finish my new Bushy! Shot it today,210 rounds not a hitch. You gotta love when things work out right.

$1,000 coverage, with a $225 deductible as I just found out based on the check I received.

That it?  Hell, most of my guns are worth more than that.....   I like the insurance in case some dumbass fucks up at the range, seeing how some of the cops I have to share my range shoot makes me wish I had more coverage. I knwo it is just a matter of time before one of them drills me. I know it will be accidental, they couldn't actually hit anyone they were aiming at, but seem real good at hittign soemthign accidently. One put a round in my X ring, from two lanes to the left (target at 10') ....  scary

Better than nothing, huh? I figure that's worth the cost of membership alone, not to mention they sometimes give you one of those stylish mesh baseball caps with the scrambled eggs on the brim.  [:)]

Excuses, excuses!

Hell I didn't feel like doing anything at all but I still went anyway even though the R'lyeh fun shows have been getting shittier and shittier. I still go because the shows are the only place that don't make me feel uncomfortable and people don't give me dirty looks and crap.
