How do you shut this thing up? It scared the shit out of me man! I must have had the volume turned up kind of high without knowing it because this voice was screaming about new mail and I didn't know how to shut it off. It is on the computer, isn't it? I mean, I aint going goofy or sumpin, huh? MAKE IT GO AWAY!!!!!!! My wife and kids say they don't hear it but I think they are fucking with me.

Click on that there box at the top of your screen that allows "IM Mail: New" or somethinerother and it'll shut up.

Whew! Thanks! Man that is annoying. I did get some great info though. My sanity was a small sacrifice to trade for usefull information. I wasn't using  it anyway.

Go to the start button and click.
Then slide your mouse over the settings button.
This opens up a new menu.
Slide the mouse over the control panel button and click on it.
Go to the add/remove programs button, double click on it.
On the install/uninstall tab look for AOL.
Double click on it and when it asks you if you really want to remove AOL click on yes!

Heh.  The first time this happened to me I thought some whack program got through my router and firewall.  I looked for a weird program and found nothing.  I rebooted and it went away.  Then later, opened up AR15.com and... you have new mail. heh.  [:D]

Switched to outdoors.net a few months ago. I like not being bombarded with pop up ads and junk e-mails, and having my system upgraded automaticly by some anti isp. If your isp doesn't support your rights change your isp or don't bitch when you loose them! Don't foreget to vote!!!!!

I usually don't have my speaker turned on, and I had an IM from over a week ago.  Do you think that GB could make the icon blink or something else that would get your attention?


Edited to add that I am a complete DUMBASS for not noticing that the icon turns red when you have mail, and it reads(can you believe it) "no mail" when you don't.
