I need some high speed low drag shooting gloves to operate with, any recommendations?

Cold weather gloves, or warm weather? I could see the mechanix being good for warm weather. For cold weather I usually just find a pair of insulated leather gloves. Check out underarmour, they have some damn nice lightweight gloves that are still pretty warm.

Hatch CQB

I like how they keep the seams off of the tip of my finger. They don't fuck up fine dexterity, and I can pick up small objects & operate a BFT with my finger even with them on. They hold up great.

Friction Fighter gloves are great, but also twice as much as the Hatch gloves.

Mechanix FastFit or Original in "Stealth" color scheme. Also Ringers makes some nice ones that are similar.

I have a pair of Mechanix Originals in Coyote Brown, much more comfortable than the Oakley ones that seem to be the pride of every video game and Tier-1 wannabee out there...

As everybody said, Mechanix work very well. I have a pair of SKD PIG gloves. While I like them, the 550 cord loop for pulling them on ripped the 3rd time I used them. That was annoying. But other than that they're holding up well.

I like these a lot. They are a light duty glove, ideal for preventing an AR quad rail acting like a cheese grater on your hands.

Hey, I have a related question.
Anybody have suggestions on heat-resistant shooting gloves? Something that will allow you to grab a 400 degree suppressor and unscrew or tighten it without melting or transfering too much heat to your hand?

Kevlar/nomex will prevent the glove from combusting. Only thicker gloves will stop transfer of heat to your hand, like an oven mitt. Or maybe an ove-glove.

I dont have any personal experience but i would suggest these

Granted I don't use them all day every day like I did years ago, but these last 3 times longer that a regular pair of Mechanix gloves. Those aren't exactly like the ones I had, but that is the model. I got them a WalMart one day. I need to order anther pair.

ETA The ones I bought had an extra thick index finger tip as well, so those aren't exactly the same. The finger tip is what I wear out anyway.

Hmm. Damn. I've been using a silicone oven mitt. I was hoping for something I could just shoot with.

I do have an asbestos fire blanket, but it would make really crappy gloves.

Wiley x here, but, I've never grabbed a hot barrel. I learned not to touch hot things when I was three.

I am a fan of the oakleys, they are pricy but by far my favorite glove. It was nice when I had them issued to me 2 pair at a time, now I don't have the money for 4 pair a year.

Good ol' Nomex gloves work just fine.

Some other good suggestions here though.

Don't be one of those guys who buys all this high speed gear, but is a complete n00b.

These are pretty killer.

Note on mechanix gloves: I stopped using them because when drawing my pistol from holster, the fabric on the web of the thumb would stick behind the slide. I'd get one shot off but the fabric would block it from the slide cycling. This happened with size small and medium.

For shooting I just use an old pair of blackhawk solags hard knucles with the fingers cut off. They've been through hell and back and are kind of nasty, but they're still trucking.

I also suggest protech VIP nomex flight gloves. They're inexpensive, real leather and made in US. Just don't expect them to last very long without getting various holes, tears. Gloves are disposable.
Don't buy a 100$+ pair of gloves thinking they'll last forever and be your only pair.

Last time I was in AZ I had to put a plug in my rear tire that got holed by a screw. It was so hot every time my arm brushed the body of the truck or I put my hand on a panel it felt like I was burning it, so after awhile I ignored it. At one point I was in a really awkward position and had to hold my arm there for a good bit. It burned like hell but I just gritted my teeth through it. I think it was 115 degrees, and anything dark colored and metal at least 200..

When I got back in the truck a big blister was forming on my forearm. I had been pressing against the exhaust instead of the body.

The moral of the story is; in the burning desert everything feels like it's burning the shit out of you.

I guess it's fine if you are just taking it off for the day, but if you are shooting something that is just thread attached and you have to check it now & again, or swapping between different guns, a glove would be so much easier.

I may just buy some of the leather/nomex and try to be quick.

I've worn through a few pairs, but their wear was better than the Oakley or the issue nomex flight gloves.
