I'm looking for a used mustang with about 50k miles on it.  The person I'm buying this for refuses to have her pics strewn loosely about the internet, so you're not getting any.
Looking for the big motor with a five speed.  I'm thinking 04-09, but don't really know anything about them.  I'm really just trying to keep the price down under $20k.  She currently has a 2010 Dodge Megacab 3/4 ton diesel.  It's got almost 80k miles on it, so I'd like to cut down on how much she drives it and she's always wanted one of these.

What do you all recommend.

She sounds like my kind of gal... Based on vehicle choices. The news ones are alright but I can't help you much past the fox body.

Eta: it might be a little tough finding something under 20k

That's easy...just look around on autotrader or some of the national mustang boards.  I sold my '05 GT, 35K miles, 600hp for 21K.

Is she trading in the Dodge or keeping it ?

ETA, just reread the post. Looks like she is keeping the truck.

Should be able to find a GT for the $20K mark. Fun cars !

How much room is there on these things (typically) for the dealer to come down?  She's found one that is basically at $22k.

We bought an 09 Roush GT new with a supercharger for 32k. 20k for a 4.6 GT sould be reasonable.

14k miles is what has me interested.  That's a new car in my book.  And $15k under new cost.

ETA:  I think Blacked out rims would be cool as shit.

Whatever you do, do NOT get a V6 Mustang. EVER.

She was trying to claim that mileage was a concern.  I told her to stop right there.  If we're getting a milfwagon, it's gonna be the real deal.

She doesn't have to make justifications.  She wants it cause it's cool.  I want her to have it cause, at some point, I'm gonna bang her in it.

And it's cool.

I can get 26mpg if I use the cruise control and thats maintaining 70mph.

There is nothing wrong with the sixes. My sister got 200k miles out of her 05 Stang. It was still going strong when it was totaled by a box truck. It was on the trailer when it got hit. It held up well but was totaled. My bils truck was damaged also.

That sucks.  One wreck and you lose two vehicles and a trailer.

We're on our way here shortly, so if anyone has any final opinions.  Let's have' em.

Be advised, the 05 Mustangs had issues with the firewall gaskets allowing water (in LARGE quantities) into the passenger compartment, and it was not honored under the warranty.  I believe they fixed this problem before the 06 model year.

New GTs can be had in the mid $30s I thought.  A 4 year old GT with the now less desirable 4.6 engine seems at $22k seems a bit high to me.  The low miles is nice but it is out of warranty anyway.

I'm not pricing these out though so maybe 22k is a good asking price.

KBB values the car at about 20k so he should have a bit of dicker room with what the dealer is asking.

Love my 09' Only problem I've had with my past 2 mustangs was a dead battery, quickly replaced and no issues since.

We don't actually know whether she's a chain-smoking single mother with a weight problem, so recommending a Camaro is a bit premature at this point.

For used, recommend 2005 - 2009 GT for style, value, and quality.  Lots of dedicated Mustang Forums on the net if you look around.

Last year I traded my 2006 GT in with just under 40k on the odometer.  The dealership sold it for $17,500 after giving me $12k on trade for it.  Oh well, it was worth it to get out of that POS car where something would break if I looked at it funny.

its been a few months now but for the longest
my trip home from work was always made better by a hot little blonde in a all black stick shift mustang with a serious exhaust note.
the driver was hot and all that  but that car sounded like pure sex and she could shift it like a beast

for about a year we shared the same 15 minute drive north through traffic and 4 stop lights like clockwork we would leave work at the exact same time 3 out of 5 days a week
never did get to put her to shame with my 3/4ton Dodge truck

My apologies.   She doesn't smoke, she has two kids, is 5'9" an 140# and is willing to screw the shit out of me...........

Obviously way below any of you fucking rockstar's standards.
