Im not much into PC gaming but i always loved Microsoft flight simulator i just never had the PC to run that beast. I know nothing about PC performance machines. How is this comp and the price? Thanks! im not sure who will know if anybody about this stuff.

That should run it just fine. Hell I'm on an almost 2 year old PC with specs that are from a half to a third of that and I run it.
|
|
What they said, it'll definitely run flight sims, especially since there haven't been any new good ones in quite some time.
Man I miss MicroProse. |

really, if i can get something cheaper i would. do you run the graphics on high? med? I wonder if it is overkill for this game

I wonder if it is overkill for this game That's a little less horsepower than the PC I have, but I can run IL-2: 1946 with everything maxed all the way out without any hiccups, and that includes running the "Black Death" track which used to cause PCs that were state of the art when the game came out to have seizures. So you should be good to go, but I can't say at what seetings since I never got FSX because to me if you can't shoot something you ain't flying. |

Go with an Intel chip, I've been researching and finally built a machine just for FSX.
I would recommend at least an Intel 2700k, 1800Mhz RAM and SSD. FSX relies heavily on the CPU and not so much the GPU. |
|
a quad core and 8 gig ram is good. its what i have, mine shows 8 cores any way.

Another amazing sim...which if free to play also if you dont mind being limited to a few aircraft is Rise of Flight...

Just to add, I used to be a die hard AMD fanboy for the price per core, but Intel really does blow them out of the water and is worth every penny more. Right now I'm running an Intel 3770k, 120 GB SSD, ATI 5870 (Efinity 6) and FSX still pushes it. Graphics are all set to max and I also have the REX plugins. What's your budget? Because of some design decisions that were made when we were coding FSX, it's never going to run totally smooth even with monster hardware. There are too many issues under the hood, especially with some of the vegetation autogen. Sorry 'bout that. We tried to clean up the mess with the expansion pack, but we only had time for so much.
Regardless, just throw the best hardware you can at it - it WILL push top end hardware, even now. Or you can do like I do, and play heavily modded installations of IL2 '46, and re-fight the PTO island hopping campaign off the cats of a CVE... |

The base stats are fine. If it chugs you can always upgrade the video card that's the only (moderately) weak link I see.
|
|
Just build your own PC. Much cheaper, longer warranties ect.
It is honestly not hard at all. Took me about 1 hour to put one together. With practice you can probably do it in 20 minutes. FSX is CPU intensive so you would want an Intel i5/i7 CPU. |

Like others have said, FSX is CPU intensive. With my set up, I can run most of it on high but i got to fuck around with the scenery settings to make it run a little bit smooth. I got good GPU's but my performance in FSX is hampered by my CPU.
