I'm happy with standard grips.
It's probably a never tried\don't know what your missing thing.  Do you ride the thumb safety\high grip?

I love the way a good Hogue grip feels, and have them for some of my range guns. They suck for carrying however, they stick to whatever you're wearing.

.....Its a lot of grip......I don't care much for them....if I could find something they help me do better I would be all over it but I cant find benefit in using them .......

I think the value of the finger grooves really become evident if you shoot a 1911 with a barrel of 4" or less. Anything full size and I'll pass, however I do have the rubber stippled-like Hogues on the 1911 I carry in my security job. It rides in a Safariland holster and I have no worries about sweat or moisture affecting my grip.

There's your problem, you are running them instead of rocking them. You get more velocity and ft/lbs of energy when rocking an accessory.

I have that exact set up, except the Eclipse Target II, one of my favorite shooters. 200gr SWC over 5 gr W231 nets 8 shots into 2-2.25" at 50 yards. Mainly a competiton piece. Not a fan of rubber grips on a carry piece, too sticky. Wes |

They always feel like they slow down getting a proper grip on the draw from a holster and I've never met a set that didn't prevent me from high-gripping the gun.

I have tried them, and heres my opinion....on a range gun, they are ok. Grasp the gun, slow fire a magazine...they work.
But they make it impossible for me to grab the pistol out of a holster and shoot quickly. |

They are ok, I got a set of Houge finger groove grips for my Springer and they were ok, felt good, but they kind of ruin the super thin profile a 1911 naturally has for carry and I shoot just as well with cheap wood grips or rough Gunner Grips so I took them off. I just run a set of old non finished wood grips on my carry 1911 and they work great and add to the worn look the more and more I use them. No issue with finger grooves, just not my thing.

A friend of mine has a 1911 built on one of those Safari Arms frames with the finger groove on the front strap. I liked it
and always wanted one. EDIT - his was actually built with a Caspian slide and frame - Caspian made them for awhile until Safari told them to quit.

In my hands... the absolute best feeling guns for me are a 1911 or a 92FS with Hogue wrap around finger groove grips.
I put a Hogue grip on every AR15 I own too.

Having little girly hands, I assumed wraparounds, like the Hogues, would make things worse, not better. But, after trying a friends' 1911 wearing them, I was hooked. They are slightly bigger around, but, they fit my hand perfectly. The only downside is the "sticky factor". But, as with all other bumps in the road, adapting was not difficult. In fact, I have the Hogue on my daily carry PO P12.
ETA: I agree with Art. Hogue PG on all 22 of my AR platform guns.

I never saw any that the gooves matched up to my fingers. If you use them, you are stuck to that grip, cant get a higher grip if you like They look cool, but thats about it I suppose. |
