Forty-nine years ago today, on Nov. 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas’ Dealey Plaza.

It sure doesn't seem like almost 50 years has gone by....

These are the times of your much too short life. Use them wisely.

I was at home for lunch from school when I found out. I ran back to school telling my teacher. I still remember it and probably always will. I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. We are blessed to live in this country, as frustrating as our government is sometimes. May God Bless.

I was in 2nd grade and remember someone saying the President got shot.

I thought it was the doctor type of shot they were talking about.

I was 4 but I remember,

I recall my Dad coming home and I ran to the door to tell him that the President had been shot.

I still recall his words, he said "Good".

I couldn't figure out why my Dad would think it was a good deal that the President got shot.

It took me a few years to figure it out.

I was five at the time. I remember the neighbor woman coming over and saying Oswald had been shot.

I was in the 6th grade; we were sent home early. Riding in the car with my father two days later, we heard Oswald had been shot. My father's only comment was "Those Dallas police can't protect anyone, can they". I remember people burning their "First Family" record albums in the following weeks, though I am still not sure why (the satire was good-natured).

I was three, playing on the floor while my Mother folded laundry and watched the soaps. I remember she started crying; I asked why, and she said the President had been shot.

I always pictured him hanging out of a Black 1949 Ford Four door, since that was the car my Mother Drove, and the only one I was familier with.

Took me years to underestand he was in a Convertable....

A tragic day, whether you agreed with his polotics or not.

I was in grade school and I remember we were all taken to the school auditorium for an assembly. We had no idea what was up. The principal told us the President had been killed and we were being sent home early.

Pretty much everybody spent the next few days glued to the TV trying to figure out who killed him and why.

I remember watching live TV when they brought Oswald out to be transferred and Ruby shot his ass. I guess there are fewer and fewer of us still around that saw that happen live on TV.

Yesterday, I had to run over to my broker's office and I went right by Dealey Plaza....it didn't register at the time that today is the anniversary of JFK's assassination.

On that day, at that time, my father was sitting in the pilot's seat of his KC-135A on the taxiway at a base in Spain,

preparing to fly, and the Spanish ATC came over the radio to announce what had happened.

Two years before I was born.

Today JFK would be registered as a Republican.

Its a beautiful memorial, Great view Of DC, and some of his quotes.
I love the quote about nations wishing us ill or harm

that we would back any ally or oppose any foe.

there is a memorial to Joe kennedy Jr. since his body was not recovered from his WW2 mission.

It helped get JFK favorable play in history, He avoided getting credit for going to Vietnam and his fucking around was largely overlooked .

The bad news was LBJ who gave us the welfare state as we know it today with the war on poverty a complete failure but great vote buying scheme for the democrats and commies

I was in the 3rd grade in NYC in class, I remember all the teachers crying and they all sent us home, in fact it was the first time I went home by myself I could hear every TV almost sychronized running home. I remember Jack Ruby sticking a gun in Oswald's gut as it happened live along with my mom and dad. Pretty traumatic for everyone

As my mom reminded me earlier nov 22,today was the day my dad died in 2005.
Those first couple holidays afterwards were tough but life goes on
Missed but thought of often,things really haven't been the same since

JFK was 46 1/2 years old when he died (born in May 1917). He has now been dead longer than he was alive.

If the same thing happened today, imagine what would happen.

Half the people would go into hysterics.

The other half might not have quite as somber a reaction. Much drunkenness and consumption of mass quantities of beer would ensue.

We are indeed a deeply divided nation today.
