This site, http://www2.nature.nps.gov/ard/park...cam/grsmcam.htm - has a 24 hour a day webcam and weather info, and is located 1 minute from our house. Check out the different pictures from good weather days, as well as try to catch the site during the day to see what it looks like currently.

I can tell you quite a bit (obviously  ) about the house. We have lived here for 5 years, and have put about $30,000 worth of materials and work into the place.

New windows all around (the nice, argon gas filled, double paned, vinyl, tilt in for easy cleaning sort), new doors, insulation, drywall, trim, fridge, all new electrical, new concrete floor in garage, new fencing last month on the majority of the property, the fireplace and stove insert are AWESOME, and we did a new chimney and lining as well. 1 year ago we also got a brand new top of the line Carrier Heat Pump, Furnace, and whole house humidifier ($6000). The basement has improved a lot and has a lot of potential - the 3rd bedroom (in the basement) is getting done as we speak - did a lot of work on it today - just need to do some painting and then the drywall goes up and the flooring.

We haven't put down our new vinyl in the kitchen and bathrooms yet, and haven't done our carpet yet in the other rooms either - waiting till we get all the painting done in the rooms and the trim done. I am in the process of putting new cabinets in the kitchen as well as a new countertop. Just did some rewiring as well. Going to get a new stove this month as well for the kitchen. New paint all around, too.

The total upstairs footage is 1,110 - this includes a totally enclosed sun room. Downstairs is 625 sq. feet, excluding a 260 sq. foot single car garage. 1/3 of an acre, though with easement and no one living near us it seems like a whole lot more.

Dimensions:

Living Room - 14' 10" x 20' 11" = 311 sq. feet

Sun Room - 9' 10" x 19' 10" = 195 sq. feet

Main BR - 11' 4" x 11' 6" = 130 sq. feet

Second BR - 11' 6" x 14' = 161 sq. feet

Main Bath - 5' x 8' = 40 sq. feet (tub/showe combo)

Half Bath - 3' 7" x 5' 10" = 21 sq. feet

Kitchen - 12' 2" x 18' 4" = 223 sq. feet

Main basment room - 13' x 19' 3" = 180 sq. feet

3rd Bedroom (has egress and very neat window well with a hinged roof and a ladder out of it) - 12' 10" x 14' = 180 sq. feet

Utility room (where Washer/Dryer is and utility sink) - 13' x 15' = 195 sq. feet

Garage - 13' x 20' = 260 sq. feet

We have a regular phone line into the house as well as an ISDN line into the house. Also have a Dish network satellite system hooked up - may leave the dish itself here. The well has a new well pump on it, and the septic system is in great shape. The only thing I pay for besides electric (very inexpensive due to TVA) and my mortgage and taxes is my garbage pickup - private service at $12 a month. No water bill, no gas bill, no sewer bill. Very nice

I could go on and on, but won't bore you with too many details. Ask any questions you wish and I'll gladly answer them.

Our address is 6902 Holiday Hill Lane, Tallassee TN 37878 - go here and enter it in so you can get a map that shows you our location, as well as seeing where it is with respect to other places - just zoom out to see that : http://www.mapquest.com/
You can also get an aerial view - and that will show you just how wooded and private it is in regards to neighbors.

Check out the pics - some of the house, some of the views from the Parkway, near our house - we are literally 2 minutes from the Foothills Parkway, and the lake in the pics is a very short walk from our house. You can't see it from the house, though.

Selling because the wife and I want to move back to Tampa area.  Her job may be taking her there soon.

Price is a big question mark.  If we sold it right now, in the condition it is in, I'd probably take $78,000 for it.  However, within the next few months the kitchen will be totally remodelled (including new stove, cabinets, countertop, drywall, insulation, and sink), the bathrooms totally remodelled (including new flooring, pedastal sinks, cabinets, mirrors, etc.), new paint everywhere, new interior doors, and perhaps by then even the exterior of the house will be painted.  May even have the third bedroom in the basement done by then.  Only thing left to get is the carpet in the bedrooms and living room, and vinyl in the sunroom and kitchen.  We may hold off on that and let the buyers pick their own colors for that.

If we do all that, the price will definately increase, probably about $8,000 or so.

It is absolutely gorgeous in the Fall, and I really like the winter, too - just too cool to have a nice blanket of snow - the trees are so pretty with snow on them.

This area (the Foothills Parkway, especially) is one of the best kept secrets in America. I have driven the Blue Ridge Parkway as well, and I don't think it comes close to the views we get on the Foothills Parkway.

Plus, for all you motorcycle riders - I am only 10 minutes away from Deal's Gap Road - also known as "The Dragon" - Hwy 28 into North Carolina. This is a cyclist's wet dream - in a 20 mile stretch there are hundreds of turns and switchbacks - my poor wife hates it when we take a drive there because she gets so nauseous from all the curves.

Thanks, Stormbringer.  Hey, your brother Mournblade says "Hello" :)

BTW - if you'd give me your home in Tampa, I'll give you mine in Tenn.

Is it on a pond or lake? The pic would indicate that it is.

So no, we aren't "on" the lake, though we drive by it to our house every day.  It is perhaps 100 or so yards from the house.

Hmm, I wonder if I raffled the house off if I could hit around $75,000-$80,000?  Maybe $50 to $100 a ticket, advertise it on Ebay and other internet sites.
