Gov. Pat Quinn Tuesday terminated the state’s contract covering members
of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees
union.

Calling the move unprecedented in the 40-year history of state employee
labor contracts, AFSCME issued a statement saying the termination has
"little immediate practical effect, as all existing terms and conditions
of employment remain in place under state law.”

Wasn't it Roosevelt that said public sector unions were a very bad thing?

More of this will happen since they have no choice.  Most states cannot afford these costs anymore whether it be Republican or democractic govs.

The public unions are gradually losing power slowly but surely.

We've got a shit load of Republican Governors willing to tackle the Unions, and yes, even some Dems are seeing that in order to survive, Unions will have to be dealt with, they're far too bloated and need to be trimmed down or eliminated all together.
