Gingrich is critical of Governor Romney’s failure to engage with the media personalities who shape and influence popular culture. He noted disapprovingly that Romney turned down invitations to appear on The Colbert Report, The View and Nickelodeon’s Kids Pick the President, while President Obama was a guest on all three. The former house speaker appeared on The View with his wife, Callista, last week, but was doggedly critical of the mainstream media as a candidate, slamming CNN’s John King for peddling "trash,” blasting the "elite media,” and lamenting their "gotcha questions.” …

if that's what it takes to become president these daze, we're all fucked....  romney may have lost the election, but he kept his dignity.

More and more I'm coming to this conclusion as well.

Of course Newt has always lived in a 'dignity optional' zone.  Maybe he would have been the right choice.

Kind of a tautology.  Of course he didn't understand the electorate because he didn't win the election.  If he understood the electorate he would of won.

This.  Romney was my last choice during the primaries.  Once he was "the guy", he had my vote, but I still didn't like him.  Once Ryan came on board, I was enthusiastic about Ryan, and became a little more open minded about Romney.  By election day, I actually -liked- Romney.

Romney ran a good race, and as mentioned above, he kept his dignity.  It's not his fault that the electorate wants a pop star to run the country, while handing out free shit, as opposed to a boring old white guy who can successfully manage a country / business.

Romney did well.  He didn't lose the race...there were simply not enough votes for him to win from the get-go.  The population has shifted.  We've reached the crest, and fallen into the trough.  It's time to recognize the situation for what it is.

This is more or less correct.

Barring a population reducing virus that only affects urban areas, the Republican / conservative ticket will not win another presidential election. (Thats my prediction).

The makeup of America has changed such that the majority that controls the electoral college outcome is part of the FSA. Doesn't matter who the Rs run, they cannot win.

The 'foot in mouth BS' was some of Romney's best stuff.

In retrospect he ought to have embraced his 47% remarks.  It would have done a lot to increase turnout among the base, IMO.

The kind of people who are satisfied with the level of government spending we have now aren't ever going to vote GOP anyway.  Why blur the distinction?

I was shellshocked.  I was working that night, and watching the election results online.  I was confident, CERTAIN that Romney would win.  Obama stepped on his dick throughout the whole campaign (Benghazi, 1st debate, stupid Biden comments, etc), Romney was found to be a personable, likeable person in spite of the MSM daggering, etc.  The Republican / anti-Obama base seemed highly energized, the Obama base was ho-hum, independents swaying strongly for Romney...I just didn't see how it -couldn't- happen.

By the end of the night, I was dumbfounded.

show's gingrich's age.

i heard ron paul said that with the advent of the interweb, the MSM doesnt dominate like it used to. I agree. its an argument i have all the time with conservative friends who loath the MSM. i dont loath it. i dont watch it. i get my info from places that dont insult me. as do just about everyone else in all political spectrums.

romney lost because obama's faithful didnt feel betrayed enough to elect the 2008 runner up to a guy who himself couldnt generate much conservative enthusiasm.

if romney's personality or ideas could have transcended conservative media and generated some interest on the left he might have won. he didnt loose because he would appear on some crappy tv shows.. he lost because he had little to offer to those who might have decided to change their vote from democratic to republikan.

The GOP has already clearly stated to me that they are completely onboard with the idea of our nation heading down the road to socialism.  Why?  Boehner has no fucking backbone and the entire party is made up of eunuchs.  Even today after the losses we sustained in the election, we could still kill Obamacare by not funding it; we control the House.  Yet the GOP has already stated "we're not going to contest it".   Yeah, same thing happened when Bush was in the White House and we had full control of Congress, yet Nancy Pelosi was dictating shit to be done from a fucking minority position?!

Fuck this party.  They both want socialism.  If you can't see the whole good cop/bad cop game that's being played here, well enjoy keeping your head in the sand.

This.  I now fully consider myself conservative, which has nothing to do with the Republican party.  Until we've got more folks like Rand Paul and Paul Ryan lined up, I have no use for them.  I've (nearly) washed my hands of politics since this election.  The country is headed to shit, my goal now is to prepare my family.  Let the people have what they voted for.  Fuck them.

I am seeing more and more Christian bashing on Twitter and other places. Basically if you believe in creationism, etc, you are being branded an idiot by democrat voters and that your Christian faith is everything that is wrong with the republican party.

While I am not a Christian (Buddhist), I was raised knowing the bible and I hate to see anyone's faith belittled and used as a manner to ostracize a large block of people.

Most Christians I know work very hard on their faith and see it as something good in the world. To see it as a veritable "scarlet letter" greatly saddens me.

Keep letting religious crackpots lead the party and you/we will keep losing.  In hindsight the loss is unsurprising, a man who wishes to ban birth control was a front runner at one point and a gimme Senate seat was lost after a candidate said rape victims should be forced to give birth to their rapist's child.

The Republican party has alowed themselves to be portrayed as the party of the rich either through their action or inaction. I'm not sure how they fix that.

Something that I suspect hurt them is when they opposed middle class tax cuts unless it included a tax cut for the wealthy. I understand their motivation. they feared that if the obama administration got the middle class tax cut as a stand alone bill they could never get their wealthy tax cut later. In hind sight a better approach might have been support any and all tax cuts for anyone.

In the future if the Dems propose a tax cut only for rufus the stunt bum it should get 100% GOP support proving to everyone that the GOP is the party of lower taxes.

Does anyone really think MR would be waging a war on success and capitalism the way zero and his minions are? I'd bet that MR accomplishes more before lunch any given day than zero does in a week. He has a strong work ethic, while zero admits to being lazy.

I could go on, but you get the picture. You can pick apart Mitt on many things, but it is not reasonable to call him a white Mormon 0bama.
