I don't know how old you are, but I sure remember when the Pontiacs parked on the street in front of my house still had indians bolted on the hood front-n-center.
Of course, I remember when service station attendants wore hats, and ties, while pumping your gas and cleaning the windshield, right before handing you a free glass for buying $0.75 worth of Esso, too.  |

Plain 1970 Novas with zero rust and that are in good shape can be had for less than $10K at the moment. And the reason why it's such a sleeper is that it only weighs 3000 lbs. 500 less than a Chevelle and 300 less than a Camaro. Modern 396 small blocks can be stroked to over 550 hp naturally aspirated. I want mine to look somewhat like this.

I had a new GTO, miss it now. Sold it when the wife got pregnant. Now the wife is gone, wish I had the car back.
Had a pretty badass setup, 408ci built by LME in Houston, 78mm Precision Turbo, Nasty Performance Stage 3 fuel system, Tuned by LMR in Houston. The car made 800hp on 93 octane pumpgas,,,,,,,,DAMN I MISS THAT CAR!

Yep, I can buy a good condition Nova for less the $10K and 2 parts cars and extra parts for another $5K and still be well under what it would even start to cost to import a Falcon or Monaro. That and I can get pretty much any rebuild/crate motor I want for $6K to dump in it. 351W was cool for Aussies because that's the one of the best they could get. That block doesn't even register into my thinking when it comes to engines we have here. |

I had a '66 Goat.
Would like to say it was a tri-power, 4 speed car, but it was in fact... a 4bbl with a 2 speed powerglide. 
Still.....a truely FUN car to drive (when it wasn't too hot to start!  ). Damn... I miss her!

Sure there's a little of that, modern suspension has done wonders for both. More so for the 2+2 body style is that people liken it to a sport's car, not so much the Nova. |

IIRC, back in 1993(?), Car Craft magazine took a stock-ish '65 GTO, put modern rubber on her wheels.... and threw the Hotchkis performance catalog at it. They then ran it through the slalom against a then-brand new Corvette ZR-1.................. .........................and the goat spanked it!
