Just a rumor at this point, but from the slickdeals Black Friday forum:

"Okay, I've got a friend high up at Federal Ammunition who mentioned walmart will have an AR15 on black friday for $499 with a scope and extra clip. Should be a Colt or S&W. Thumbs down if you want, but he's pretty reliable and I'm ready to wait in line for it."

Can't imagine an AR at this price point

Not likely.

If that were true, and I very much doubt it happens, can you imagine the line of panic-buying goobers milling about that ammo counter the entire day preceding it waiting for the sale to start? The line would be stupid, and long, and full of people I'd pay $200 to avoid spending quality time with.

Sounds like the carbon 15 red dot combo that we have for $700 now.

They sell a .22 cal ar15 for that price now and is what you are referring to..

I can't either but if it's a 6920 I'm FUCKING IN.
Aren't Black Friday deals about losing $$$ on some to steer people to their stores for the first "official" day of xmas shopping? (heck and probably only ONE per store at that price)
And I hate WM

Colt $500? No way. For the first time ever I would go to a black Friday sale and camp out.
Maybe the S&W MP15 would go for that price

Don't remember who but our local WM had an AR by a maker I had never heard of. I had never heard this maker (can't for the life of me remember who) ever, ever mentioned here. It's possible.

If Obama wins next week......can you imagine the line at WM for this if it happens?

A DPMS or S&W sport for $499 I guess is possible. There is no way they could sell a Colt for that.

Of course none of the WM's around here sell firearms anymore.

Their ammo selection is also shit.

That is very doable for Wal-Mart.  They could have DPMS basic M4 carbines or maybe a rifle that usually sells for $650 and mark it down that far.  They figure that if they sell 500 rifles nationwide at a $100 loss each they lose $50K but if spending $50K gets enough people into the stores to make a $500K profit on related items that day then so be it.

They lose money or break even on almost all black Friday deals so that you will place other non-sale items into your cart.  They hope that cheap rifle will also get you some tools, tires, a necklace for your wife and stuff for the kids into the cart.

This, even if the scope was a $50 piece of garbage that is too much. That is over $500 of a discount. Probably a DPMS, they go for $700.

Right here!

No FA, shell deflector or ejection port cover, but a running AR15 none the less! Perfect truck/trunk rifle!

Between this and $100 lap tops they are sure to make a killing.
